    Mimic Blu-ray

Lionsgate has announced that Guillermo del Toro's sci-fi horror film Mimic will make its U.S. Blu-ray debut on September 27th. The 1997 Miramax catalog title stars Mira Sorvino (Romy and Michele's High School Reunion), Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men), Jeremy Northam (The Tudors) and Giancarlo Giannini (Casino Royale).

Mimic, which is based on Donald A. Wollheim's short story of the same name, begins when cockroaches in Manhattan spread a deadly dieasase that claims the lives of several of the city's children. Entomologist Susan Tyler (Sorvino) creates another breed of insects to kill the roaches, but finds out years later that her genetically mutated specimens have evolved into monsters that can mimic human beings.

The Blu-ray release for Mimic will bring some new special features that were absent from the film's barebones 1998 DVD release. These include:

Introduction and Audio Commentary from Director Guillermo del Toro
    Behind-the-scenes retrospective featurette
Featurette looking at the creatures in Mimic
    Deleted/Alternate Scenes
    Outtakes
    Storyboard Animatics

Lionsgate has listed Mimic with a SRP of $19.99. Pre-orders should be up on Amazon shortly.

The Mimic is the only DelToro movie that I haven't seen. :O

That new release sounds awfully swell.

It's a curious movie. The sequels are actually worth seeing too. Del Toro clearly has a 'chitinous insect' fascination.

Yup. They were Direct-to-dvd...the second one was, meh. Mimic:Sentinel(3) actually had some good ideas.
