We went to Knotts Scary Farm last night, I hadn't been since 2008. It wasn't to crowded at first, we were there for the rope drop. We managed to make it through 7 mazes and a few rides, including the refurbed Log Ride (which wasn't made over for the event). Since we got there early and were at the front of one of the rope drop locations, we were able to get 5 mazes done in under an hour, not too shabby. They had 4 mazes nearly side by side in the southeast corner of the park near Ghost Rider. This made it very easy to exit one maze and jump in line for another. In fact I believe when you exited the third maze(Dominion of the Damned), you were automatically placed in line for the 4th maze(Delirium).
The list of mazes and rides we hit in order:
1. Gunslingers Grave
2. Trick or Treat
4. Dominion of the Damned
6. Pinocchio Unstrung
- Bumper Cars
- Log Ride
Then we bailed.
All in all it was pretty cool, like I said we knocked out the first 5 mazes in under an hour. At 8:15 my friend proposed to his g/f, this was the whole reason for going, it was pretty cool as we had a big group, and he had some of the monsters involved with it. After that we broke off from the large group and hit Pinocchio Unstrung, which ended up being our longest line, around 30 minutes.
Next year we have vowed to go to USHN and buy the fast pass thing. Every year we say we are going to do it, but never do. Knott's was fun but I think I'll be cool if I waited another 5 years to attend.
So...y'all know I am a huge fan of UniversalHorrorNights, John Murdy and the work they do. Went last Sunday and held my review because I was REALLY underwhelmed by what I experienced. Lots of empty rooms, no big showpieces(c'mon, the La Llorona room with the giant head swallowing the gal) and a serious lack of detail. No smells...no squirts...just a bunch of really spread out mazes with a LOT of repetetive decorating. Was really bummed.
So me and Kingsqueen went again on Thursday...completely different experience. Scares all over the place, lots of enthusiasm...just a complete 360.
Overall, in the past they never had such a dichotomy between nights. Different experience on different nights, but ALWAYS a good time. I will allow Murdy benefit of a doubt, they prolly were hamstrung by the upheaval at the park, but the spreading thin of the mazes made the scarezones even more useless than they have been. And, The Purge, while a good movie, made for a very bland centerpiece.
Like I said...details. Lots of full head masks as opposed to prosthetics. Made for repetitive sightings(especially in El Cucuy).Lack of well designed scares(lots of people standing in plain sight/or the trigger closets...no distraction scares). And just a general letdown from previous years.
I hate to be so critical, but with the prices and the ridiculous wait times you have to judge this event a little differently.
I'd love to post my Halloween playlist, but as it's 201 tracks....

Dunno, I started with 70 songs and then narrowed it down, I spent all last night working on it, haha.
But I like what one of my peeps does, that is, makes multiple playlists of about 20 songs each.
But I don't know, I think us Halloween peeps tend to overindulge.
2 years ago, I hate like a half a pound of Candy Corn. I ended up throwing up.
NOBODY has BOC's Godzilla? Really??????
This is awesome.
Dunno, it's kinda weird that I am a Huge Tim Burton fan, but never dressed up as any of his characters.
I might be able to pull off Sweeney Todd, but I certainly don't look anything remotely like Depp.
I did dress up as the Cry Baby character in high school (junior year).
And in my senior year, I dressed up as The Crow.
Dunno, maybe, I should dress up as Jack, The Pumpkin King. I am as skinny as he is, haha.
Even my sister makes fun of me, she's like, hey you, why don't you eat a cheeseburger or something, lol.
