The most notable of them all is the casting of Roy Dotrice, who has joined the cast and will be playing Pyromancer Hallyne, chief of the Guild of Alchemists. Dotrice was actually originally cast in the role of Grand Maester Pycelle (Julian Glover), but had to withdraw for health reasons. Dotrice is already a well–known talent in the world of author George R.R. Martin‘s A Song of Ice and Fire book series—the actor provided a voice to most of the audio book recordings that were produced, excluding A Feast for Crows.
It doesn’t end there, however, as quite a few other roles have been filled recently.
Gemma Whelan is set for the role of Yara Greyjoy, older sister to Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen). Yara is actually Asha Greyjoy in the books, but to minimize confusion with the Osha character, it was decided to change her name.
She’s joined by Karl Davies, who’s supposedly playing Alton Lannister, a character that was not in the books. It’s thought that perhaps this is actually Cleos Frey, whose mother was a Lannister, and it was adjusted to use the name.
Rounding things out, Nonso Anozie has been cast as Xaro Xhoan Daxos, Tom Wlaschiha has been cast as Jaqen H’ghar, and Hannah Murray will be playing Gilly.
