Hey...I have a Game of Thrones question(book-wise) I am on book 3 and still no resolution to what happened to Benjen Stark(PLEASE...NO SPOILERS) I don't want to know whether that gets discussed, I actually want to know if they ever address why he took the Black. Afterall, he was/is from a prominent family, and joining is basically for the dregs of society/castaways/and criminals. Once again, no specifics please...but does that ever get addressed?

they never really do. i have yet to read dance with dragons. but through feast for crows nothing. (at least that i can remember)
