A little late to the party but I gradually really started to enjoy Bored to Death. Ted Danson was really good and in general, it had a sort of quirkiness that grew on me. Hung had the opposite effect. Really grabbed my attention during season 1 but slowly got boring. The twins were probably the funniest part. And yes, Tanya was difficult to look at.

EASTBOUND & DOWN Teaser Trailer Season Three

Season three of HBO’s Eastbound & Down is just around the corner, and a new teaser trailer for the highly anticipated return of everyone’s favorite failed baseball player has gone online. The action moves to Myrtle Beach this time around, and star Danny McBride looks to be joined once again by a slew of familiar faces. The crux of the trailer has McBride giving a truly horrible/fantastic speech to a group of underprivileged kids, and promises even more delectable douchbaggery from Kenny Powers in this third and possibly final season of the HBO comedy.

    YES!!!!!!!!

GAME OF THRONES Season 2 Premiere Date

We knew Game of Thrones would return for its second season in April 2012, but we didn’t know when. There were 30 possible options! Now HBO has revealed the April wait will be non-existent (unless you’re counting the hours). Game of Thrones returns April 1st. The new season will be 10 episodes long.

HBO also announced other premiers for its fall line-up. The Lena Dunham comedy Girls arrives on April 15th, Veep, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, premieres on April 22nd. As for HBO movies, Jay Roach‘s political drama Game Change debuts on March 10th. The two hour film centers on John McCain‘s 2008 presidential campaign and stars Ed Harris as McCain and Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin. And while all of this sounds well and good, it’s all about getting back to Westeros.

BD Horror News - TV: Typecast Vamp Cast as Vamp in 'True Blood'

If you're going to add a vamp to the "True Blood" cast, why not look to the best fang-based franchise out there, Twilight? I'm obviously joking, but you still have to wonder if HBO purposely cast Twilight thesp Christopher Heyerdahl in yet another vampire role. That's typecasting to the extreme, and frankly, a bit lazy.

Deadline reports that Heyerdahl is joining HBO’s hit vampire drama in a recurring role. He will portray Dieter Braun, an ancient, powerful vampire who plays a large part in the intelligence of the Authority and especially enjoys enhanced interrogation. That is familiar territory for Sanctuary alum Heyerdahl who played the ancient Volturi vampire Marcus in 3 of the Twilight movies: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and the upcoming Part 2. Additionally, he played a demon in an arc on the CW’s "Supernatural."
This guy is so good on AMC's Hell on Wheels. Actually looking forward to True Blood...c'mon, the return of Russell Edgerton.

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Rhys Ifans in Talks for HBO Series THE CORRECTIONS; Season Three of TREME Delayed Until Fall

If you’re dismayed by the lack of “wow” in movies as of late, may I remind you that some of the best storytelling on any medium is currently happening on television. Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones—from sprawling epics to intimate character dramas, we’ve got some insanely great entertainment at the command of our fingertips. One of the most anticipated new television series is the HBO adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Corrections. The story centers on an elderly Midwestern couple with three adult children who decide to trace their lives from the mid-20th century to “one last Christmas” together near the turn of the millennium.

Noah Baumbach is directing the pilot, and we’ve already got Dianne Wiest, Chris Cooper, and Ewan McGregor attached to star. Now comes word that Maggie Gyllenhaal and Rhys Ifans may join the increasingly impressive cast. Hit the jump for more, including news concerning a delayed premiere for the HBO series Treme.

Daily Mail (via The Playlist) reports that Gyllenhaal and Ifans are in talks to star in The Corrections, which is being planned as a 40-episode series. Gyllenhaal is in early talks to play McGregor’s sister, Denise, who is a chef. Furthermore, Ifans is in talks to possibly cameo as a Lithuanian crime boss (excellent choice). The report says that the plan is to air four 10-episode seasons of the series. Given that it’s based on a beloved novel, the show’s producers have a clear beginning, middle, and end. I’m kind of in awe of this ambitious undertaking, and can’t wait to check the series out.

In other HBO news, the third season of the critically hailed yet ratings-challenged Treme has been pushed back to later this fall. We previously reported that the fourth season will be the show’s last, so that makes season three the New Orleans-set drama’s penultimate. NOLA (via Vulture) reported on the show’s fall bump, but gives no specifics as to why the series has been pushed back. Nevertheless, creator David Simon isn’t worried about the delay:

“It just doesn’t matter. I don’t pull an audience no matter when they put me on.”
