Watched The Newsroom last night. Have never watched any of Sorkin's prior shows so I wasn't sure what to expect. Really liked it. Yes. It's a bit overwritten and some of the characters border on stereotypes(the 'plucky' assistant, the Indian guy who is more than he seems, etc.) but the performances were very good and rose above it. I have always liked Jeff Daniels(see 2 Days in the Valley for an example of some nice dramatic work) and he is terrific in this. The rant at the beginning(vertigo meds...awesome) was terrific. I think I really like this show, but lets see where they go with it. Oh, Sam Waterson does some nice work too, got a few real solid laughs...

Damon Lindelof Prepares "The Leftovers" For HBO | CraveOnline
sounds good.Deadline is reporting that Lindelof has signed on to adapt Tom Perrotta's novel "The Leftovers" into a potential TV series alongside Perrotta himself. "The Leftovers" was originally published in 2011 and it takes place after the Rapture while following the people who didn't make the cut to get into heaven.
Notes to HBO...
I REALLY like the Newsroom. No idea if this show has a long story to tell or just one or two & out. Like that they are introducing competing love interests but, who I already want the two leads to kiss & make up. Jeff Daniels is very good(always has been) and it's good to see folks finally getting exposed to that.
Oh, and True Blood...just go and **** right off. Yeah, **** right off.
a WHOLE lot of nothing. It's like they have 1 script and just keep saying to the actors...Vamp...(see what I did there)
No really, it's the worst friggin ponderous rehashing of the same events every week. STILL no Russell Edgington. And he's being made into this bigbad, that will probably be on for 2 episodes before someone stakes him in the easiest way imaginable, with no collateral damage. NOBODY can die on this show so there are absolutely no stakes(see what I did there) involved. It's such a lather/rinse/repeat thing at this point. I couldn't care one **** what happens to any of them. I have defended this show the past few, let's face it, bad seasons...and I simply cannot anymore. Maybe the new showrunner will break the spell on this but somehow I doubt it.
