OK...watched TB last night...first off that Boardwalk empire tease gave me chills. Looks like a brilliant second season potentially.
on to True Blood. Look, if you expect anything from this show other than a cheesy soap opera with vampires, shapeshifters and now witches...stop watching now. I thought the premiere was perfect. PERFECT CHEESE. And like a good swiss, it had all kindsa holes in it. Don't care, still loved it. I was pissed that they teased Gary Cole just to kill him 10 minutes in. OOOf that make-up as he was dying, straight out of the 'Dick Smith handbook' that I had as a kid. All the characters are headed in new directions, which is good, because the show works better when they are juggling multiple storylines.
Time out for Tara...ok folks, you hate her, understood. But she has moved away, she seems to be a little less verbose and she is making out with another woman. If you can't handle her now...once again, stop watching.
Like Lafayettes permy Mr. T do, don't like Andy's addiction to V. And why is the chick from Dexter(Lithgow's daughter) on the show with no introduction. She was tossed in like she has been there all along. The Sam's brother storyline looks like it may be fun, too early to tell. Like the 'evil child' twisting off the dolls heads too. Overall it looks like another season of hijiinks and shenanigans...once again, if you are expecting class or high drama...you probably should be watching something else.
the biggest problem i had was that in a universe of Vampires, Werewolves, Shapeshifters, peckerwood meth-slangin' cats, whatever the f*** Maryann was, Sookie being able to hear thoughts (let alone knowledge of her white light Faerie power) and now witches, that even as potentially unaware as certain characters may be due to little to no interaction with all of these creatures, there has been PLENTY enough experience.
i was annoyed that Lafayette was so glib and dismissive during his first few steps among the coven. and his immediate reaction afterward was that he had been had by that tasty latino boytoy of his.
i was also annoyed by Jason's reaction to Sookie's whereabouts and had basically told her to keep it on the down low else everyone would think she crazy.
the show overall was fine and very True Blood. it's just that that sort of s*** is just plain lazy writing.

Sam's story is also r***ing lame, and it always has been. he's a totally unlikeable character.
and i have a feeling that whatever is going to go down with Jessica is going to be good.
Well, we agree about Jessica. I like Sam though, he's the ultimate whipping boy. Everyone has crapped on him at some point or another, I like that he finally is holding a grudge towards...well, everyone. And yeah it's lazy...if you read between the lines, Alan Ball has come out publicly and said he's kinda done. Of course, his contract is up after this season, so it may be posturing. But, he burned out and got lazy towards the end of Six Feet Under too, so maybe history is repeating itself. I'd imagine that a fresh vision might actually help this show a lot.
