It is WAY ****ing creepier than any movie from the 60s has any right being.
OMG! Coffin Joe!
Yeah, horror from Brazil, if anything, you NEED to watch this!

Wicked! :O
Oh, but seriously, you know how much I love that movie. It's an adaptation of Henry James' Turn of the Screw, and what works about that novella is the ambiguity, and that movie captures it perfectly.
Speaking of awesome horror movies from the '60's...have you peeps watched this?

*love it* It was based on Shirley Jackson's novel (I read way too many books), but it's typical '60's Horror goodness, that is, psychological and atmospheric as hell.
Robert Wise (the director) said that he was pretty much was trying to channel Val Lewton with that film. I think he succeeded.
I own the DVD, but haven't watched it yet. It's in the pile of SOON, though.
well...since we are recommending, and I love this movie more than air...

One of the best modern horror flicks. Subtle, with tremendous acting...forgive me, I could not pass up an opportunity to pimp one of the best flicks I have seen in a long while. It's kind of like watching a really good play.
