Exclusive: Death House on the Hunt to Become The Expendables of Horror - Dread Central

Word has come across our desk of a new project that is funded and shaping up to be completely badass. Factory Entertainment is working on a film called Death House, which is being billed as The Expendables of horror. Interested? Read on!

The script for Death House was penned by none other than the original Leatherface himself, Gunnar Hansen, and from what we hear, a cast is being put into place that's gonna be pretty damned insane. We have a list of names already attached but would rather not print 'em until the ink is dry on the proverbial paper. However, we can tease you a bit. We are talking a Captain, a hellish demon, a cornbug, a nightmare man, and even a corpse-raising mad scientist's main squeeze. Do the math.

Death House tells the tale of five psychology majors on a class trip, who find themselves sealed inside a prison with vicious rioting Neo-Nazis and the nation's most deadly serial killers, THE FOUR HORSEMEN.

A director is being sought after, and we can confirm that there's a great deal of interest in director Tobe Hooper and the great cinematographer Daniel Pearl. That's it for now, but you can expect more on this... much more... soon!

International Hellbenders Trailer Arrives to Exorcise Your Demons - Dread Central

This movie was done on the cheap, and it shows in the trailer...but damn it Bubbles, Clifton Collins Jr, Dan Fogler and Clancy M'fing Brown as intentionally sinning exorcists(so they can kill themselves and literally drag a demon to hell) is a terrific concept. And JT Petty also made The Burrowers which was a hell of a cool little flick. I GOTSTA see this.

Review: 'The Purge' Starring Ethan Hawke & Lena Headey | The Playlist

Maybe it's because of the numbing onslaught of "Paranormal Activity" and "Saw" sequels over the past decade, but maybe the most invigorating aspect of "The Purge" is how it might be the launch of the next great horror franchise, one in which subversive ideas are much more important than bottomless buckets of blood. Kind of shocked to see this get a good review (especially from this site) because it looked dumb to me. Gonna have to look at the other reviews, I guess.

I think the Purge looks like a hoot. Kinda like a government sanctioned Strangers(which is still a damned effective movie). Most of the reviews I have seen so far were favorable, some less than others, but I would say averaging at about b- c+. Looking forward to it. I do have a problem with their VERY IMPORTANT security system having the equivalent of an on/off switch(come on, you can't go all nuclear red button with lockdowns and all that jazz?).

McBASTARD'S MAUSOLEUM: Blu-ray Review: MASSAGE PARLOR MURDERS (1974)

VERDICT: MASSAGE PARLOR MURDERS! makes it's Blu-ray/DVD debut from newcomer Vinegar Syndrome and if you love gritty, sleazy and violent exploitation from the 70's this gets a definite recommend. Now keep in mind it's not for everyone and your mileage may vary depending on your cinematic tastes but I found it quite entertaining. If your a cult and exploitation enthusiast you seriously need to be aware of what Vinegar Syndrome are up to, these depraved detectives of demented cinema are unearthing some awfully obscure exploitation titles, some of which have never been given a proper release until now! 3 Outta 5
    This sounds pretty sweet!

McBASTARD'S MAUSOLEUM: I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE 2 Coming Fall 2013

Interesting. Anyone see the remake? I forget if it was discussed. I wasn't too big on the original, but I heard some stuff about the remake that made me want to try it at some point.

Review: The Purge squanders its few good ideas as well as Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey

Worse, I think the film is morally confused, and possibly even completely amoral. It's the sort of movie where you're supposed to cheer once the family starts to turn the table and kill off the loonies invading their home. The film doesn't even try to grapple with the big questions that the premise suggests, and that bothers me fundamentally. I wish the film had even the slightest interest in the outside world. There's a sequence near the end of the film involving the neighbors that feels like an excuse to try to keep things provocative, but it's telegraphed at the start of the film, and it's ridiculous to see how they make it feel like this all matters or it reflects the real world. I wish they would have really grappled with some of our ugliest natures, but this is witless and completely confused about what it's trying to say.

I don't have the energy or the inclination to describe this one any further. It depresses me to see a film that does almost everything wrong. It's not the worst film I've seen this year, and not by a long shot, but I can't recommend this to anyone. I would hope that even the most undiscerning fans of horror can recognize that this one is a violent, brainless mess.
