TIFF 2013 Midnight Madness to Include THE GREEN INFERNO and ALL CHEERLEADERS DIE | Collider

Some promising stuff here. Didn't know Lucky McKee even was working on a new one.

IFC to Deliver My Amityville Horror, Errors of the Human Body, and Antiviral in August - Dread Central

Antiviral being David Croneberg's son's movie, and Errors...being definite body horror a la Cronenberg...in other words, see these.

Antiviral is a pretty ****ed up movie. Couldn't really wrap my mind around the concept, but I guess it isn't that far-fetched since apparently some people dream of contracting HIV. People are strange.

HAUNTER Trailer and Poster. Vincenzo Natali’s HAUNTER Stars Abigail Breslin | Collider

A trailer and poster have been released for Vincenzo Natali‘s mystery-horror film, Haunter. The film stars Abigail Breslin as a girl who keeps reliving the same day 1985 and has to unravel the mystery of why she is in this odd purgatory. I caught the film at SXSW, and while I enjoyed the premise, I felt that the emphasis on solving the mystery was at the expense of the emotional side of the story. This new trailer doesn’t give too much away, but it also makes the movie looks like a run-of-the-mill haunted house movie with only the Groundhog Day-aspect as a means to stand out.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer and poster. The film also stars Stephen McHattie, Peter Outerbridge, Michelle Nolden, and David Hewlett. Haunter opens in theaters and will be available on VOD on October 18th.

Peter Sarsgaard Says Bone Tomahawk is Alien Meets The Searchers | Shock Till You Drop

Back in May, Magnolia Pictures picked up S. Craig Zahler’s horror-western Bone Tomahawk starring Kurt Russell, Peter Sarsgaard, Jennifer Carpenter and Timothy Olyphant, and the announcement came with this description of the film:

Bone Tomahawk follows an outlaw who unknowingly leads a band of cannibalistic Troglodytes into the peaceful western town of Bright Hope. When the monsters kidnap several settlers, including a rancher’s wife, a small rescue party consisting of the injured rancher, the sheriff, his aging deputy and a strong-willed gunslinger, journey into hell to try and rescue them. They soon find themselves in dark unknown territories where savage inbreeds armed with the ultimate weapon leave no hope of survival.
With that cast...this better not disappoint.

Under the Bed (Blu-ray / DVD) Review - Dread Central

That aside, the biggest issue this reviewer has with Under the Bed is how unsure it is of what type of film it wants to be. The first two thirds, the occasional f-bomb aside, is pure 80s PG-13 spooky kids flick. However, the final third forgoes the creepy, less-is-more approach in favor of going full-on Hatchet on the audience, spraying the walls with blood, grue, and a few impressive gags involving beheadings, dismemberment, and… I don’t even know how to label what happens to one character (he gets “Crowley’d,” perhaps?). This wild shift in tone throws the whole thing into camp territory, from which it never quite recovers (the less said about the exploration into the world underneath Neal’s bed, the better). It’s a shame because the movie did show some promise before it ran so gleefully off the rails.
