    Los Angeles, CA
Q&A with Director William Lustig & Special Guests TBA!
It's been a long time since I saw the first one, but at the time I didn't like it enough to care about the sequels. Even though Bruce Campbell.

Guess I should give it another shot.

Which is pretty much how I felt...

One clip is so insanely good, 2 are okay, and unfortunately the final one is pretty lame. It's still well worth a view though.

Bruce Campbell Continues to Toy with Emotions of People Who Want ARMY OF DARKNESS 2 | Collider

Even though Army of Darkness is a cult film and its fans would desperately like for Bruce Campbell to pick up a chainsaw and a shotgun again so he can reprise his role as Ash. Army of Darkness came out in 1992, and where there’s hope for a sequel, there are rumors. Campbell and director Sam Raimi always dance around the possibility of a sequel and come right up to the line of saying they’re doing it, but legitimate pre-production never gets underway. Today, that tradition continues as Campbell talked to an audience at Wizard World Nashville Comic Con, and said “I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I use to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here.” That should have been the end of it, but of course, it wasn’t.

Hit the jump for a description of how Campbell sees an old Ash fighting evil, and for a misleading confirmation about the movie.

Campbell told the crowd at Nashville Comic Con [via Comicbook.com] that this new Ash would have to take the actor’s age into consideration:

“Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be alright. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it.”

I like it too, especially in Campbell’s 2002 movie, Bubba Ho-Tep where he played a geriatric Elvis fighting a mummy.

But to come back to the original question of “Are you going to make a sequel to Army of Darkness?”, Campbell replied, “Alright sir, the answer is yes.”

That seems like a confirmation that the movie is a go, but it’s not. Raimi could be working on a script, but where’s the studio that’s going to back a sequel to a 21-year-old cult movie? Raimi’s 2009 film Drag Me to Hell, which comes off like a cousin to Evil Dead II, proves that someone would be willing to indulge his “spook-a-blast” tendencies, but Campbell saying he’ll do Army of Darkness 2 isn’t a surprise. The surprise will be when production begins in earnest.
I feel optimistic. After holding fans at arms length for so long it really does seem like the intent is there.

A bloody ballad of @EliRoth 's GREEN INFERNO, by the AICNer that served me up to the Cannibal Genre! - Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

One of the true coups of The Green Inferno is Eli's wise insistence upon shooting along the legendary Werner Herzog waters of South America and utilizing a local jungle tribe to play the multiple roles of the cannibals portrayed in the film. Not only are they frighteningly realistic, but not for one moment does the viewer feel an ounce of hope for their helpless captives, especially when the superior skills exhibited by KNB Makeup Effects prove once again why they are the best in the business. These hapless Americans seem to be consumed right in front of our eyes with enough cannibalistic gusto to turn Deodato, Lenzi, and D'Amato green with envy. The practical effects are many & great, and are executed to near perfection as each “victim” meets their own grisly fate one after the other. I was relieved (yet none surprised) that the gore was both brilliantly executed and was very much in abundance, as it should be in any respectable cannibal film. There’s more than enough viscera on display here to challenge an R-rating, yet the lack of a show-stopping genital mutilation scene left me feeling a bit conflicted. Eli alludes to said genital torture early in the film, but I can only conclude that the MPAA is to blame for the lack of a payoff in that regard. Novices to this particular subgenre of film and those who consider themselves less of a gorehound will probably be happy to have been spared.

believe it when I see it...

Clive Barker to Pen HELLRAISER Remake with Doug Bradley Returning as Pinhead | Collider

HOT FROM HELL! My friends,I have some news which may be of interest to you. A few weeks ago I had a very productive meeting with Bob Weinstein of Dimension Pictures,in the course of which I pitched a remake of the first HELLRAISER film. The idea of my coming back to the original film and telling the story with a fresh intensity-honoring the structure and the designs from the first incarnation but hopefully creating an even darker and richer film-was attractive to Dimension. Today I have officially been invited to write the script based upon that pitch. What can I tell you about it?Well, it will not be a film awash with CGI. I remain as passionate about the power of practical make-up effects as I was when I wrote and directed the first HELLRAISER. Of course the best make-up in the world loses force if not inhabited by a first-rate actor. I told the Dimension team that in my opinion there could never be a Pinhead without Doug Bradley, and much to my delight Bob Weinstein agreed. So once the papers are signed , I will open a Lemarchand Configuration, dip my quill in its contents and start writing . I promise that there will be nowhere on the Internet where the news of my progress will be more reliable than here ,because the only author of these reports will be Your Infernal Corespondent ,me. My very best wishes to you
    all,my friends.
    Clive.

Sam Raimi Confirmed To Direct 'Army of Darkness 2'! -

Really feels like this is the closest this movie has come to being a reality. Thank you Burn Notice...if you hadn't closed it out The Chin might not need the work.

And slightly related...I saw the ED remake again in the interest of seeing if my original dislike was due to high expectations. Well...it wasn't. First off, it wasn't scary, wasn't over the top violent and the end of the movie really really dragged. And, this is a personal issue, TOO MUCH animal violence.

    The Returned – Sundance Channel

Ooooh. Sundance Channel is going to show all 8 episodes of this French show on Halloween. Gotta remember to set my DVR, even though it's not an HD channel.
