Kevin Smith’s ‘Hit Somebody’ Update: First Film Scripted, Both Films Titled | /Film
I think it's a shame that KS seems to have rediscovered a passion for filmaking and he is going to hang it up after these, sure...probably not forever, but still.Quote:
Kevin Smith took to Twitter Friday morning to update his fans on his next and final film, Hit Somebody. Smith recently announced that the hockey film would be released in two parts, ala Kill Bill, and as of today the first script is done and he’s moved on to part two. He’ll call part one Hit Somebody: Home and the second part Hit Somebody: Away referring to the fact that the first film will see the main character Buddy, played by Nicholas Braun, growing up and the second will see him playing pro hockey. Smith’s also aiming for the first part to be rated PG-13 and the second part R. Yes, another PG-13 Kevin Smith movie.
Red State is available online for two weeks if anyone wants to rent it. It is also available on Video on Demand for Time Warner, DirectTV, Dish and a few other cable providers.

Interesting strategy for releasing a movie.
Just watched Red State. Michael Parks is incredible in it. Some things in the movie made very little sense to me though, making what could have been a great movie a mediocre one instead. Some characters are introduced and never seen again, other characters appear from out of nowhere to play major roles in the story. It's a bit unfocused in that regard. And the story almost requires you to make a leap of faith a few times and if you don't you'll be left behind. I sadly got left behind about halfway through the movie. The first half was very interesting though, and early on I was getting that feeling you get when you know that you're watching what could be a very special movie. Mostly thanks to the previously mentioned performance of Michael Parks. I wouldn't exactly recommend it but it's an interesting movie with both good and bad sides.
I saw it the other night and I enjoyed it. Agree about the character introduction, but was still a good film. Actually, it is better than a lot of the dribble that is out there today. You know what is funny, is the movie has already paid for itself, and now everything is just profit. Kinda nice for a film though that it is in the black before it gets into the theater.

From that last tweet it sounds like Smith thinks Hit Somebody and Goon can peacefully coexist, but his first tweet suggests he’s aware of the impracticality of the same actor starring in two different comedies about hockey within a couple of years of each other. The odds that a studio will give the greenlight to whichever film comes second is unlikely, at least not with Scott attached.
