In the last six months Kevin Smith has been on a non-stop roller coaster ride between announcing the self-distribution of his new film Red State, confirming his retirement after his next film Hit Somebody and starting his very own radio station, S. I. R. (Smodcast Internet Radio) at Smodcast.com. And with all of that news you’d think he’d have little to no time to take on anything else. You’d think that, and you’d be wrong.
Via his twitter account he recently made this post:
Tell ‘Em TV! @ELYSE1111, @originalmediaTV & I are shooting a @BryWaltQ & Stash show, and YOU can be in it too!
Casting for Comic Fans! | Facebook
That link leads to an open casting call for that pilot on a Facebook page that is also a Tumblr for a show on the Smodcast Network, Tell’Em Steve Dave. A quick excerpt from the release reads as follows:
We’re also looking for people in the Tri-state area with cool, unique, rare, or otherwise awesome comic book/movie memorabilia. It’s Pawn Stars for Fanboys, and if you have something to sell/trade/or value, we want you to bring it to us!
The official twitter account for Tell’Em Steve Dave also confirmed the news with the following tweet:
In case you aren’t aware yet
Tell 'Em Steve Dave! | The official blog of the Tell 'em Steve Dave podcast Project is a legit TV show, not a web show. Channel/network under wraps for now.
It looks like Smith is ready to dive into yet another medium (one he is all to familiar with thanks to the Clerks Animated Series and Reaper) in his never ending quest to supplying entertainment for his fan base. Buying/Selling shows have been all the rage lately with programs like Pawn Stars, American Pickers, Storage Wars and Hollywood Treasures. And while this show looks like it will be taking the format of those programs, it definitely sounds like an intriguing idea from the man that only six months ago declared he was going to take control of his own empire.
