Per THR, the film’s Cinderella is married to a vain prince played by Chris Pine. Should Kendrick’s deal come to fruition, the Pitch Perfect actress would once again be given the opportunity to display her impressive vocal chops. Kendrick has plenty of experience on the stage, as she’s been appearing in Broadway musicals since the age of five. The actress is currently shooting Richard LaGravenese’s musical The Last 5 Years and is poised to star alongside Ryan Reynolds in Voices as well as Zach Braff’s next directorial effort Wish I Was Here. As if she wasn’t already busy enough, Universal is also developing a Pitch Perfect sequel for a planned 2015 release. The wildly impressive cast of Into the Woods is also set to include Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tracy Ullman, and Christine Baranski.
Additionally, Deadline reports that Les Miserables standout Daniel Huttlestone is in talks to join the ensemble. Huttlestone shined as the young Gavroche in Tom Hooper’s adaptation of the musical last year. Production on Into the Woods is slated to begin later this summer in anticipation of a December 25, 2014 release date.
