Before Buying 'Drive' On BluRay You Might Want To Wait For The "Queen" Edition Nicolas Winding Refn Is Planning | Filmmakers, Film Industry, Film Festivals, Awards & Movie Reviews | indieWIRE

Although a date has yet to be announced for the home video release of “Drive,” director Nicolas Winding Refn suggests that fans might want to skip the first release of the film on DVD and Blu-ray and wait for a deluxe edition that he’d like to put together in a year or so. Speaking to The Playlist recently, Refn indicated that an upcoming double-dip will offer greater insights and information about the film than the bare-bones iteration that’s due in a few months.

“The version that is released now, like soon, is fairly standard,” Refn revealed. “It does not include any audio commentaries with either Ryan [Gosling] or myself, and it does not include any secret, revealing elements, or mysteries solved, or a huge amount of spinoffs. [But] because I’m a Blu-ray fanatic – no, fanatic, like religiously – I hope that in the near future, I will be able to release a movie that’s not just a movie, but also one that describes the process of the filmmaking, and answers some of the more mysterious elements of the success of that it has achieved.”
    Ok, I'd buy that.

Yeah, but that sounds like one of those pipe dream things. No guarantee he will ever get to it. He is ramping up his 'to-do' list with his relative success. I wouldn't hold my breath.

    The Sound of 'Drive'

The music selected, the score as well as the sound mix, which features some incredibly blown out gunshots, screeching tires and blows to the head, are all totally off the charts. The SoundWorks Collection has put together a little video highlighting this highlight of Drive and you can check it out after the jump.

News: Drive (US - DVD R1 | BD RA) - DVDActive

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced DVD and Blu-ray releases of Drive which stars Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, and Bryan Cranston. Each will be available to own from January 31st. The only extra material will be featurettes ("Drive Without A Driver: Entretien Avec Nicolas Winding Refn", "I Drive", "Under The Hood", "Driver and Irene", "Cut To The Chase").
    Lame. Also, lame cover art.

Pass. Hope "Queen" edition gets released someday.

DRIVE Returning to the ArcLight Hollywood Theater; Albert Brooks to Do Q&A on January 6th

    Here’s the press release:

Drive Returns to ArcLight Hollywood for Exclusive Engagement

Albert Brooks in Attendance for Q&A on Friday Jan. 6, 7:20PM

NEW YORK—Jan. 3 2012 — FilmDistrict is very excited to announce that Drive, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and starring Ryan Gosling and Albert Brooks, will be returning to the ArcLight Hollywood for an exclusive one-week engagement, beginning this Friday, January 6th. Brooks will be in attendance for a Q&A on Friday night. Don’t miss one of the best reviewed movies of the year in LA’s premiere destination theater!

The ArcLight is the perfect place to present Drive. The film is an electrifying piece of blazing neon color, elegant Los Angeles locations, and swooning electropop sounds. The ArcLight is devoted to presenting films as their makers intended, with the most spectacular sight and sound presentation of any theater in the world. Few films deserve such a treatment more than Drive. This will be a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience that leaves Blu-ray and online streaming in the dust!

Drive has been listed on 68 critics’ Top 10 lists. Albert Brooks has currently won 18 Best Supporting Actor awards from various critics and awards groups, including the prestigious New York Film Critics Circle. Nicolas Winding Refn has currently won seven Best Director awards, including the Cannes Film Festival. The film has currently accumulated 83 awards nominations, including the Best Supporting Actor Golden GlobeŽ for Albert Brooks, eight Broadcast Film Critics nominations, and four Spirit Award nominations.

Strippers And Guns: First Look At The Remake Of Nicolas Winding Refn's Pusher - CinemaBlend.com

For some, 2011 will be remembered as the year that Nicolas Winding Refn made an impact on mainstream audiences. Sure, both Bronson and Valhalla Rising got his name out there, but it was Drive that turned many on to the Danish filmmaker's work. Looking into his backlog, new fans of Refn may become aware of the Pusher trilogy, a series of films that Refn made in his native country about drug dealers in Denmark. For those that are interested in the director's movies but have no interest in reading subtitles (seriously, learn how to read subtitles), there is a British-made remake coming down the pipe later this year, and today we get our first look at it.

What's funny is that this isn't the first time that Pusher has been remade. A 2010 version of the film was made in Hindi, but this will be the first time that the movie will feature English dialogue. It's also worth mentioning that Nicolas Winding Refn himself served as an executive producer on the new project, so he was totally aware of everything that is happening with the redo of his first film. Director Luis Prieto must also be an appreciator of Refn's work, as the way the second image is saturated in red is straight out of the Drive filmmaker's handbook.

Also starring Bronson Webb, Mem Ferda, Zlatko Burik and Neil Maskell, Pusher tells the story of a drug dealer (Coyle) who finds himself over his head when a transaction goes wrong and he finds himself indebted to a local gangster. The movie does not yet have a release date.
