Late to the party here. Your comment while true really isn't a fair comparison. What movie has QT made that cost more than $60-70 million? Much easier for a studio to greenlight his stuff. Had Nolan wanted to make a $50 million film after Memento and Insomnia, he would have gotten the job. Heck, WB trusted him with Batman.

Just saw the new trailer and Leo reminds me a little of Tom Hanks in The Ladykillers. That's a good thing.

That's a fair point, almost enough to make me retract my original statement. And, not to be a naysayer, but didn't WB also trust Schumacher w/Batman?

Nice to see I am not the only one who appreciated Hanks' Foghorn Leghorn meets Col. Sanders mash-up. Hell, everyone was good in that. Terribly underrated movie with a fantasticly dark ending. But, Leo still looks like little man inna big coat. Sorry, but I cannot buy him in anything.

Hanks should have been nominated for that role. As far as Leo goes, I get what you're saying but he's an unusual actor in that sense. There are certain roles where he does seem out of place and then other roles where he's unbelievable in. I still think he should have beaten Foxx at the Oscars for The Aviator.

I never saw Aviator, so I will take your word for it. I actually am not a huge fan of Foxx...I wanted Idris Elba for Django. I have only seen Leo's more genre-related stuff...like Shutter Island/Inception...but traipsing across J/Edgar he looks HORRIBLY miscast. If they ever did a live action Warner Brothers cartoon...he would be terrific for Baby Faced Finster.

I'm not much of a Foxx fan either outside of In Living Color.

Of the Leo movies I've seen, I thought it best work was in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Aviator, and The Departed (should have gotten a nomination for this instead of Blood Diamond the same year). I liked him in other roles too such as Inception though he didn't particularly stand out in those. The movies where I thought he was terrible or miscast were Titanic, The Man In the Iron Mask, and now that you mention it J. Edgar. That movie was just terrible to begin with. The thing is, other than his physical appearance (baby-face), Leo has a way of speaking that's very Leo. It's the same problem Keanu Reeves has. You can never take him for anything other than a surfer because of how he talks. Leo, while not a surfer, has a similar problem.

I've been trying to pin down my problem with Leo for ages and you just nailed it.

And I agree that he's good in some roles.
