The Stand is still King's best work IMHO and one of my top 2 or 3 favorite books. I didn't care for The Road. I guess being a dad I just found it way too depressing and too slow to finish.

I'm not looking for Mad Max novels. I'm more interested in the rebuilding aspect of post apocalyptic worlds. With The Road, it was too much about the dad and his son for my taste.
David Heyman to Produce Adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s THE DROWNED WORLD | Collider
Here’s the synopsis for Ballard’s The Drowned World (via Amazon):
When London is lost beneath the rising tides, unconscious desires rush to the surface in this apocalyptic tale from the author of Crash and Cocaine Nights. Set in the near future, the ice caps have melted and the planet basks in an unendurable heat. London is a primordial swamp; lush tropical vegetation grows up the walls of the Ritz and there are unconfirmed sightings of primeval reptiles swimming through the newly-formed lagoons. Some flee the capital; others embark on harebrained schemes to drain the submerged streets in search of treasure. But Dr Robert Kerans has come to accept this submarine city and finds himself strangely resistant to the idea of saving it…
Production Begins on GODZILLA; Ken Watanabe Joins Cast | Collider
OOOOh thats a BINGO. Watanabe is, to me, like the Japanese Morgan Freeman, where he instantly elevates and brings certain class to whatever he is in. With David Strathairn(???) already added and Cranston too that's a pretty high class cast. Me likey.
