There are the Endymion books in the Hyperion series too though.

His Illium series is also pretty good.

you know that the movie rights to Carrion Comfort have supposedly been sold? i have NO idea how anyone would pull that off without it being ridiculously changed.

That was such a long read. Yeah...that would be a tough adaptation.

Dan Simmons is an incredibly versatile writer. His last 2 historical fiction novels, The Terror and Black Hills, are both intensely interesting and enjoyable reads. I can't recommend either highly enough, especially Black Hills.

The Hyperion series (all 4 books) is outstanding science fiction. Carrion Comfort and the Hollow Man are disturbing yet highly intriguing novels.

The Ilium books have a lot to offer the imagination as well. Simmons is among my absolute favorite authors.

J.J. Abrams Finally Talks Star Trek 2

While talking to Cinema Blend, Abrams himself confirmed that Star Trek 2 would in fact be his next project; and he even talked a bit about its release date and whether or not he’s looking to make it in 3D. He started off by saying, “The next thing we’re working on, and hopefully we’ll be able to pass information out sooner or later, is the next Star Trek.” When asked about the too close for comfort release date that Paramount has the film penciled in for, June 29th 2012, Abrams was less than committal. “I care much more that it be good than it be ready,” he said, “I’m, obviously doing everything I can to make sure that schedules don’t get screwed up. But I don’t think anyone wants a movie on time that’s not worth your time.”
