Ben Stiller May Topline Sci-Fi Comedy ‘Neighborhood Watch’ Directed by Lonely Island Member Akiva Schaffer | /Film
sounds like a fun idea that Stiller will homogenize to death.Neighborhood Watch is a script that has been in development at Fox for some time, beginning with the period when it was going to be a Will Ferrell vehicle. The story centers on a small neighborhood watch organization that really exists so that dads can get time away from their families. Things get complicated and dangerous when the group uncovers a dangerous and otherwordly plot.
Director Andrew Stanton Talks JOHN CARTER; Concept Art Revealed
Stanton also talked about how they approached the extremely sci-fi premise of the film involving a Civil War veteran traveling to Mars, dealing with low-gravity and battling giant aliens:
“I looked at things like Apocaplyto and Rome and even things like Shogun and Lawrence of Arabia, things that as a viewer I could accept as having a level of historical research. They give me a sense of what it would be like in that land and in that age. So then you ask, ‘Well, what if we just did our Martian research really, really well and treated it as a period film?’ There are so many times and places in history in our world that I just don’t know anything about, and when I learn about them they’re always fascinating. I don’t need a predisposed interest in them if they are presented well. So we said, ‘We’ll treat it this way, we won’t treat it like some fantasy being fulfilled by a fan.’ We tried to make it feel like we’re going with the story of what really happened.”
Michael Chabon to Write MAGIC KINGDOM
It took a few months to cross all of the t’s and dot all of the i’s, but Pulitzer Prize-winner Michael Chabon has finally closed the deal to write Disney’s upcoming family adventure pic, Magic Kingdom. Back in March, we reported that Chabon was in talks to pen the project for director Jon Favreau and now, three months later, Heat Vision is confirming the news. While there aren’t a ton of plot details available for Magic Kingdom, we do know that the film will take place in the Disney theme park. Per the report, it may also integrate other theme parks on a global scale (don’t get your hopes up, Six Flags…you’re probably not included). In addition to landing Magic Kingdom, Chabon was also in the headlines earlier this week when Darren Aronofsky signed on to direct the pilot for his HBO period drama, Hobgoblin.
That's the one I was waiting for!!!!!

Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn Talk LOGAN’S RUN
On the fence about Gosling, but if NWR keeps using him, that's a big bonus. They MUST give Michael York a small cameo.
I met Mr. York when I worked in a 1 hour photo on the corner of Roscoe & Sepulveda...the man couldn't have been more down to earth or gracious. Every time I watch an Austin Powers flick I smile when Basil comes on.
