Aren't you tired of being winked at by the movies you watch?
I am.
I'd love to be able to go to a movie and not be reminded half way through it that I've seen it before only with different actors. I'd love to just be allowed to dissolve into this imaginary world and be swept up in the narrative without a giant flashing red light screaming "WE'RE CLEVER! WE'VE GOT STREET CRED! LOOOOVE USSSS!!!!"
Maybe it's just me. I hate trade rumors too.
While I agree with you on the winkwink, I guess I just got caught up because York was such a nice English gentleman when I met him that I wanted him to get a gig. It really was silly on my part because of the whole 'death before 30' concept of Logan's Run...what was I thinking, York is 70 years old.
winky dink cameo or no winky dink cameo, why not just skip a Logan's Run remake altogether?
can you honestly say that you'd be able to go into the theater and fully dissolve into this imaginary world and be swept up in the narrative AND not be reminded that you've seen it before with different actors?
The original Logan's is soooooo disco dated. It's a terrific story and Refn is a very talented filmaker with indy sensibilities. I think that DRIVE will succeed, at least critically, to the point that NWR can make his version of this movie. This is one of those rare remakes that has all the pieces in place to be Carpenter's THE THING, or Snyder's DAWN OF THE DEAD.

This is a fake trailer for a sequel to Troll Hunter, which is playing at The Nuart...
It's a very effective movie. Really clever and terrific use of sound. Sure, it's a found footage flick, a la Blair Witch/Paranormal Activity...but this is actually a good movie. Good solid acting and the creatures, although CGI, work really well due to selective use(darkness only) and the aforementioned sound design. Go see it in a theater, it's one of the few times I would say that, but the sound really makes it pop.:3head:

My money is on this'un to be the surprise sleeper hit of the summer. I'm kinda tired of found footage stuff too, but like I found yesterday when I finally saw Troll Hunter, it can be done very very well.
