I attended the Season 6 Premiere event last night at Dolby Theater in Hollywood... it was quite an experience watching the episode on a big screen, not to mention in the same venue that is home to the Oscars. Obviously I won't spoil anything for you guys, but will say that the season doesn't waste any time having some serious s**t go down.

I also hit the after party which was poolside at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel... in addition to the copious amounts of open bar and gourmet grub, the majority of the cast were there and accessible to everyone. I had brief but cordial interaction with Charlie Hunnam, Jimmy Smits and David Labrava, chatted a bit with Kim Coates and Dayton Callie, saw Tommy Flanagan working on a group of VERY hot women and Mark Boone Jr. being quite drunk Here's me with Tig and Unser:

minor spoilers, i think. I could just not remember details from last seasons finale. I am going to watch that tonight before I start on the new episode.

So, will Jax be able to finally right the ship? Will his personal life remain as messy as his life in the club? And will there even be a club left to save by the end of the season? Check out six teasers for the new season

I am far more appalled by the drowning and the very beginning. Congratulations Sutter, you are so edgy. I guess that was the only way he could get it out of his system and do the part at the end with the actual proper restraint. Nice to see Peter Weller, and it was mostly more or less watchable, but so much of it felt like the same stuff recycled yet again, right down to a lengthy closing montage with gratuitous basic cable nudity.

As horrifying as Otto's morning wake up is I had to talk someone out of feeling sorry for him. If that had been your sister....
Honestly though, not sure what the furor is over the 'controversial' scene. It was telegraphed from the outset and yeah...illegal guns probably do have a good chance of being used in unfortunate instances like this. If anything, the complaint should be that it was a little awkward and clumsily done. But to get all up in arms over a fictitious use of a horrifying reality is the kind of grandstanding and false outrage that I blame solely on the internet. Not gonna watch anymore...ok, so we finally found the straw. Congratulate yourself that through all the OTHER really ****ty things that have transpired on the show, your high falutin morals finally kicked in. Jesus...it's ok for to watch women/men be raped, yonks of folks meeting their demise, but when they shoot up a school...welllllllllllll I am outta here. Hypocrites. See ya next week.

And Jax is NOT a good person ladies. Despite all the narration and 'loss of ones self' he can't seem to keep his d++k out of the stray hole. Just a symptom of his hypocrisy. At least Clay is honest with himself about what he is.

So this is the rub for me. I had forgotten how hard it was for me to watch the show the last couple of years. These are not nice people and it is very hard to watch and somehow root for them. I could've done without the Otto morning wakeup call as well but your point is taken ... he is NOT a nice person and chose his own actions. I think this is what Sutter has been portraying throughout the show. Now the irony is that Logue's character isn't clean either. I know that Sutter says the violence is there for a purpose but I am not so sure any more. When my better-half and I were talking about this (she doesn't watch the show) she could totally relate to what I was saying as she felt the same way about Rescue Me, a show she really was a fan of at the start; the characters ended up being so tough to watch and in no way were you able to root for them was her opinion. I am still not sure if I can hang with SOA or not. I leave it each week so depressed.

To be perfectly honest I love the angle that the odd gun the club runs ends up in the hands of a kid who shoots up a school as I totally see how this could happen. I fully understand how Sutter has been saying he wanted to play that angle for the last couple of years. The part I will be interested in is how the evidence comes together that it came from SAMCRO. Obviously the Dave Navarro character will have something to do with that but it has to be something more to tie to the MC. The show also has to somehow find a way back to its' roots in the way the club interacted with itself and each other. I never would've thought that Chibs would be questioning Jax's leadership in any way. And where are the moments of humor in all of it. Tig, at least, is still himself and they haven't abandoned how hard it would be to get over your daughter's death.

I am not sure how much longer I can stay with the violence and continue watching but I have been struggling with this for a couple of years ... I had only forgotten how I was struggling with it until last night. I love the concept and the characters but maybe Sutter is right. Maybe we shouldn't be rooting for these people. These people choose the LIFE and all that happens in it. I thought the lady at Collider did a bang-up write up today on last nights epi. It was spot on to me other then the school shooting.
