with the exception of Paths Of Glory and Dr. Strangelove, Spartacus and maybe Lolita, i have issues with the rest of his films ... like serious issues ... no matter how good i think they are.
interestingly enough, those 4 films i mentioned... my favorites of his, i find no coinkidink that they are consecutive and were all released within 7 years of each other
San Diego Comic Con this year:
The face looks... weird.
Tarantino and Kubrick are/were the best at this game.
So Boobytrap, you don't like any of Kubrick's films?![]()
BoobyTrap likes The Shining, Barry Lyndon and Full Metal Jacket to varying degrees.
Her recent tirades against Mr Kubrick stems almost solely from the fact that I made the mistake of watching the last half hour of 2001 with her in the room a couple months ago.
It should also be noted, though, that she doesn't particularly care for A Clockwork Orange or Eyes Wide Shut.
Kinda, but I want to watch it again before I start talking about it. Yeah, I have seen it a million times, but watching it again wouldn't hurt. Maybe tonight.
The film does depress me, however.
2001 seems to be that film that peeps either love or hate. I personally love it, but I can see why others wouldn't. I think that film shows just how much power Kubrick had that he could put out such a weird movie for a major studio and make it financially successful.
I tend to cite Dr. Strangelove as his best film, but I do enjoy pretty much everything that the man made.
Did I tell you that my school had as screening of A Clockwork Orange?
It was glorious. Next to Hitchcock, Kubrick is my favorite film director.
