It's pretty dreadful. Not bad...just horribly joyless. The book was no fun-run either. I recommend Needful Things instead. Not as good as the book but it has a lovely dark center and it's real playful. Nice cast too.

Isn't the end of IT film so romantic? I shed a tear and want to take a bicycle ride.

So, I was pleasantly surprised to find out the IT DVD has a commentary track. The first half mostly has the director and the second the cast. It was bittersweet to hear John Ritter though. :(

But it's really good. The cast talked about how some parents complained that the movie gave their kids nightmare. And Ritter then joked, lol, the name King should've tipped them off. Did they think it was going to be about Clara Bow?

Hey, I'll take the silent film references when I can get them.

And I still haven't read the novel.
