I think the ratings from now on will be "down" no matter what. Everyone is watching everything online these days. Whether it's Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, whatever... they need a new way to count the ratings.

Well, I ran across it by accident, anyway.
I believe they have worked in DVR delayed viewings or are close to doing so, but watching New Girl on Netflix does not get commercials for the new movie coming out Friday watched, which does not get FOX a larger paycheck from the movie studio. It may get FOX a paycheck from Netflix if that is how Netflix's streaming deal works, in which case FOX is counting those ratings itself and will factor it into the equation when it comes time to renew Schmidt and company.
Advertisers are a little hesitant to pay for DVR delayed viewings because when I watch an episode of The Office that has sat on my DVR for almost a year and see an ad for John Carter Of Mars, I am not able to go to the theater and pay $11 for a ticket to see it. Not that I would go to the theater and pay to see it.
