Fox Cancels ALMOST HUMAN Starring Karl Urban and Michael Ealy

Like the folks here that liked it, it had a loyal...but small following. IMO, it wasn't bad...just not really that great either.

Xbox prepping 'Weird West' zombie series Deadlands, apocalyptic mini Winterworld | Blastr

Apparently Halo was just the beginning. The folks at Microsoft want to use the Xbox to take on everyone from Netflix to TV networks, and they’re moving very quickly to make up ground.

The company has announced a full slate of TV projects in development, to go along with those two Halo series and that alt-future robo drama Humans. Next up: a “Weird West” supernatural series, an ambitious miniseries about a global winter, and a stop-motion series from Robot Chicken’s creators.

The new series Deadlands aims to bust a few genres, combining zombies, sorcerers and mad scientists in a “Weird West”-setting. The series will be based on the steampunk role-playing game of the same name.

Winterworld looks to be one of the most ambitious projects on the slate, and is based on Chuck Dixon and Jorge Zaffino’s graphic novel series of the same name. The miniseries will follow survivors of a new global ice age, at a time when humanity has formed tribes to find ways to survive in the new, ice-covered world.

The final project of note for sci-fi fans is Extraordinary Believers, from the studio that brought us the hit Adult Swim series Robot Chicken. Not much is known about the show other than that it’s stop-motion, but if it's coming from the Robot Chicken gang, we’d expect some sci-fi overtones and a whole lot of weirdness.

Though all these shows sound cool, they’re just half of the full development slate. The studio is also cooking up some unscripted fare and a hard-boiled detective thriller based on Harlan Ellison’s Gun Machine that has us pretty intrigued.

Which of these projects are you most looking forward to? Are any of them worth taking the plunge for an Xbox One (assuming you don’t already have one)?

Sometimes it's hard to know how networks make decisions. I haven't seen either show but Almost Human and The Following were pulling almost exactly the same ratings which were actually pretty decent for Fox and only one was cancelled. Additionally, Fox has a ton of lower rated shows that appear to be coming back like Mindy.

Following is in second season, and the ratings fluctuate enough to give it the edge. Plus, Kevin Bacon...and I would imagine that even though Almost Human is lo-fi, it still seems the more $$$ of the two. Also, dvr/hulu ratings and possible overseas number(where Bacon is a draw) might factor in. Not just simple numbers.

Since they renewed what was easily my favorite new show (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), whatever their reasoning was is okay with me.

[TV] Despite Low Ratings, "Hannibal" Won't Die -

It’s no secret that the Bryan Fuller-produced NBC series “Hannibal” is crazy expensive, and the ratings aren’t tremendous by any means. This has me insanely nervous that Season 2 will be the end of Will Graham’s bizarre journey. The show is awesome.
As grim as it looks here in the States, we don’t know what other deals NBC has in place internationally, which could change the course of the series’ future. Thankfully, it sounds like there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
Bryan Fuller has revealed to Digital Spy that he is “very confident” that Hannibal will be renewed for a third season.
“I hear very positive things,” Fuller told the site. “All of the creatives at NBC are so supportive of the show and want it back, and the schedules and salespeople are like, ‘It’s a new show, get rid of it’. We are banking on the creative people winning out over the salespeople.
“The ratings are not anything to jump up and down about, but the critical acclaim is great, and we’re sort of a prestige project for the network, so we’re hoping that’s enough, like it was last year. There have been indications that it will be.“
Fuller also revealed that he and his co-producers have considered alternative options for producing the third season, should NBC fail to renew the show.
“The confidence hasn’t stopped us from seeking out backup plans that would get us a third season one way or another. There are many more options than there have been in the past. So I feel very confident about a season three.
“We end season two in such a strange way – boy, I would be pissed [if that were the end]! We don’t quite land the plane, we leave the plane in the air.“
Says the site, NBC will announce its 2014-2015 slate and any cancellations at the New York upfronts on May 12.
