GOOD NEIGHBORS Blu-ray Review
Hurm. When I still had DirecTv, this was on HDNET early premier. WELLLLLLLLLL it recorded, except for the last 10 minutes. I was liking what I saw, despite the ugliness, improbability of it...but I lost the movie in the final 'AH-HAH' moments. Anyone seen this? Should I get a copy and see the last 10???? I hate to condemn an actor, but I have yet to see Scott Speedman in anything that I didn't think could have been done better by someone else...
Phillip Noyce to Direct Thriller THE ARRANGEMENT
Phillip Noyce is set to direct the thriller The Arrangement. THR reports that Noyce has inked a deal to helm the pic for Mandate Pictures, with a script written by Brian Tucker. The story centers on an interracial married couple—the husband is white while the wife is half-black half-white—“whose unity is tested when another man, who happens to be black, takes a liking to the wife and begins to create problems.” There are no other details on the plot at this time, but Tucker is said to “write post-Obama stories that force audiences to question themselves,” so it certainly sounds like Noyce will be tackling some racial themes.
I guess I should add Pontypool to my watch list, then, huh?
Dolphin fail, then?
Indeed. But we are judged by how well we respond to failure...I...believe in you.
Amber Heard to Star in MOTOR CITY
Oof she looks SO much better as a brunette.Director Albert Hughes (The Book of Eli) has found his female lead for the thriller Motor City. Deadline reports that Amber Heard (The Rum Diary) has landed the female lead in the pic opposite Dominic Cooper. The film centers on a man who gets released from prison and sets out on a revenge mission to hunt down the people who framed him. There are currently no details on Heard’s role, but the actress has been gaining traction as of late starring in Drive Angry, NBC’s now-cancelled The Playboy Club, and most recently The Rum Diary with Johnny Depp.
Cooper recently starred in Captain America: The First Avenger and drew positive remarks for his performance in this year’s The Devil’s Double. He’ll next be seen in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Motor City was scripted by Chad St. John. The film will be Hughes’ first solo directorial effort, as he helmed his previous pics alongside brother Allen. Joel Silver is producing, and with the two leads set expect to hear more casting news soon.
Tony Scott Directs NARCO SUB
While most of us were busy stuffing our faces over the holiday weekend, Tony Scott and 20th Century Fox discussed illegal drug trafficking. The Unstoppable producer/director is now lined up to direct Narco Sub, a drug-centric action thriller based on a spec script by David Guggenheim (Safe House). As of now, the plot details are being kept quiet, but the title indicates it will have something to do with submersible crafts used by South American drug cartels to smuggle product into the states.
