A Wounded Cop, A Wounded Murderer And A Sultry Nurse Walk Into An Apocalyptic Danny DeVito Movie | Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

The currently untitled project stars William Fichtner, Lance Reddick and Constance Zimmer.

The film revolves around a wounded cop, a wounded murderer and a sultry nurse. The three are thrust together, as war rages outside the only possible safe house, an abandoned City Hospital. With no doctors and only a few poor decrepit souls as witnesses, it becomes a rats’ maze as the antagonistic trio get separated, and we find out the real reason they are there.
Stopped reading, started waiting for this after reading WILLIAM FICHTNER. Dude is nails. And...I scared him in between periods at a Kings game when I gestured wildly towards him...he grabbed his kid and exited stage left.

‘Jennifer’s Body’ Director Responds To ‘The Invitation’! | | Bloody DisgustingBloody Disgusting

I’m one of the few of you guys who actually seemed to dig Jennifer’s Body. I thought it was a fun, effective movie that was unfairly maligned to an incredible degree. So I’m pretty excited to see its director Karyn Kusama behind the camera again.

XYZ Films has announced that her new thriller The Invitation. will begin principal photography in Los Angeles in the summer of 2012. The film was scripted by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi (R.I.P.D.) and will star Luke Wilson (pictured inside; Vacancy, The Royal Tenenbaums), Zachary Quinto (Star Trek), Topher Grace (Predators) and Johnny Galecki (Bounce). XYZ Films (The Raid: Redemption) will produce alongside Martha Griffin (Girlfight) and Hay and Manfredi. Foreign sales will be handled at Cannes by Celluloid Nightmares, the partnership between XYZ Films and Celluloid Dreams. XYZ Films and ICM are representing domestic sales.

In the film, “On a dark night, Will (Luke Wilson) is invited to his estranged ex-wife’s dinner party. Over the course of the evening, he is gripped by mounting evidence that something insidious has taken hold of his ex-wife, and that she and her new friends have a mysterious and horrifying agenda. By the end of the night, the ramifications of what happens in this house will spread far beyond its doors.”

Could be cool! How about you guys? Do you still hate Jennifer’s Body or have you come around to it?
Nice cast w/ a sinister undertone. Curious.

Michelle Monaghan Part of The Coup | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

There's more casting news coming in for the Dowdle brothers' (Quarantine) latest flick, The Coup, and as the actors file in, they just seem to become prettier and prettier. Read on for the latest.

According to Deadline, Michelle Monaghan will star with Owen Wilson and Pierce Brosnan in The Coup, a thriller centered on an American family who moves to Southeast Asia and finds themselves entangled in a violent coup with merciless rebels attacking the city. Devilís John Erick Dowdle will direct a script he co-wrote with his brother, Drew Dowdle.

Monaghan will play Wilsonís wife in the action thriller, which is scheduled to begin production in October.
Sounds interesting enough. And she ain't hard on the eyes. She was in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, right? That's a badass flick.

[Interview] Transcript From Our Twitter Interview With ‘Killer Joe’ And ‘The Exorcist’ Director William Friedkin | | Bloody DisgustingBloody Disgusting

On July 27th, LD Films will release Killer Joe, which is directed by the man behind The Exorcist and To Live And Fie In LA – William Friedkin. This may not sound like a horror film to you – but it is indeed bloody and disgusting. It’s also very entertaining. I can see why some people might have issues with it – it’s an absolutely bonkers movie. But it’s intense and unsettling and bold. It weirded me out more than Human Centipede and was much more fun to watch. A pulpy ride with huge performances all around, and an interesting character study from Juno Temple.

Last week I interviewed Friedkin live on Twitter and we discussed Killer Joe in as much depth as I think you can in that format. We also talked about The Exorcist and found out that the legendary director is sort of a found footage fan – he cites Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity as his favorite recent horror movies.

“When 22-year-old Chris (Emile Hirsch) finds himself in debt to a drug lord, he hires a hit man to dispatch his mother, whose $50,000 life insurance policy benefits his sister Dottie (Juno Temple). Chris finds Joe Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), a creepy, crazy Dallas cop who moonlights as a contract killer. When Chris can’t pay Joe upfront, Joe sets his sight on Dottie as collateral for the job. The contract killer and his hostage develop an unusual bond. Like from a modern-day, twisted fairy tale, “Killer Joe” Cooper becomes the prince to Dottie’s Cinderella.”

The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, Thomas Haden Church and Gina Gershon. It’s based on the play by Pulitzer and Tony Award winner Tracy Letts.

Look, I NEED to see this. Gonna be released NR and I have heard that it's just brilliantly over-the-top. Friedkin was never 'fully there' to begin with and now that he is in his golden years he seems bound and determined to make the kind of movie that just don't get made no more. Oh yeah...and Gina Gershon.

ALEX CROSS Images Featuring Tyler Perry and Matthew Fox

Yipes Fox is shredded. Love these books and the character but I can't NOT see Madea when I look at Tyler Perry. And Ed Burns? How in the christ does that guy still have a career? Has ANYONE seen ANYTHING with him that they enjoyed. Let me get that...NO.

I could see Perry as Cross and it's good he's doing something different. However, I still think of Morgan Freeman when I think of the character!

Bloody First Look At Anchor Bay’s ‘Breathless’ | | Bloody DisgustingBloody Disgusting

In Texas the most deadly weapon is an unappreciated woman. On August 14th, 2012, Anchor Bay Films presents the gory, cunning comedy/thriller that will leave a welcomed bad taste in your mouth with Breathless. This Texas Gothic tale comes from director Jesse Baget (Wrestlemaniac, the upcoming Cellmates) and Academy Award winning executive producer Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker).

Lorna (Gina Gershon, Showgirls, P.S. I Love You) is a strong-willed Texas woman who’s had enough of her untrustworthy husband, Dale’s (Val Kilmer, Top Gun, Batman Forever), criminal acts and lack of husbandry. Fed up, she enlists the help of her old friend, Tiny (Kelli Giddish, NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”), to help her figure out what to do with Dale after his latest double-cross involving the theft of $100,000 from a bank.

As the girls brainstorm for a “neat” solution, they medicate themselves with only the best of prescriptions – Tennessee whiskey – which leads them to even bigger problems. When Sheriff Cooley (Ray Liotta, Goodfellas, Hannibal) inconveniently enters the conundrum, the story evolves into a tale of revenge and survival that resolves in true Texas fashion: bold and ruthless.
Ok, Liotta/Kilmer and Gina Gershon...mmmmmmm. Ok so it looks like a direct-to-dvd but if it's getting a theatrical release there might be something here. Good cast...and Gina Gershon...mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Rob Reiner Returns To Thrillers With An Idea I Wish I’d Thought Of, And A Twist That He Didn’t See Coming | Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Reiner has never besmirched his 1-for-1 thriller record.

He’s about to go for the 2-for-2, signing on to direct You Belong To Me. THR pitch the core concept well, and it’s an idea I wish I’d had:

The project centers on a psychiatrist who does the one thing you are never supposed to do with your patients: talk about yourself.

I dare say that things go a little One Hour Photo after that. Or, as has been said, Cape Fear. Note the nature of the four main characters and you’ll see what I mean:

Production is planned for the fall in New York and casting will begin immediately for the four leads, which include the psychiatrist, his wife, their daughter and the patient’s brother.

It’s a thriller concept that was waiting to happen.

The screenplay was written by David Murray. I hope it’s good. Reiner himself said:

They are hard to make well, but this one has a deep psychological bent to it and a big twist in the end that I didn’t see coming. That’s why I decided to take a whack at this one.

    Well, good luck Mr. Reiner.

I’ll be keeping a close, hopeful eye on this one.

EASY MONEY Trailer Starring Joel Kinnaman

A new trailer for The Weinstein Company’s U.S. release of the Swedish thriller Easy Money (Snabba Cash) has landed online. The pic is based on a novel by Swedish author Jens Lapidus and follows a taxi driver (Joel Kinnaman) in Stockholm who gets caught up in a drug-running operation. Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House), the film made a splash in Sweden when it was released in 2010. Kinnaman has since found success in the U.S. on the AMC series The Killing, and he’s set as the lead in the upcoming RoboCop reboot. Martin Scorsese has attached his named to the U.S. release of the film, and this trailer does a good job of selling the action to audiences who may be averse to reading subtitles.

    Jack Bender to Direct DEVOLUTION

Jack Bender blossomed into a superstar TV director by helming 37 episodes of Lost. Bender has been trying to parlay that into his feature directorial debut, but he had to drop out of the Jack Ryan reboot, and we’ve heard nothing about 7 Minutes in Heaven since it was announced in 2010. Heat Vision reports Bender is developing a new project , Devolution, at Legendary. The studio is keeping the plot details for the thriller. But the other members of the creative team suggest this will be a genre picture. Max Brooks, author of zombie novel World War Z, came up with the idea. David Leslie Johnson, credited writer on two The Walking Dead episodes, will write the script. The title would be appropriate for a zombie thriller, but we ought to wait for confirmation on that. I just want Bender to get a feature project in front of cameras soon, to see what he can do with a bigger canvas.
