You haven't watched Batman Returns JD? :O
Only by living absurdly is it possible to break out of this infinite absurdity.

For me at least, I need an arc where a character redeems themselves. That's what I identify with, read into that what you may. Ok, here is a question...how do you feel about the story arc of Sir Lancelot(choose whatever movie/book you want to illustrate). He lived a life of virtue, complete dedication...yet he lost all because for just a brief moment he allowed himself to love and NOT DENY his wants? Is he a bad person and not worthy becaue of that one moment? Is Guinevere a horrible person because she tempted him. Or are they both tragic figures?
I was just telling Adgy that I wasn't sure if that post would work cause I didn't think you have watched any of those movies or would want to. I'm going to have to find one that's JD friendly. Maybe Teeth. Have you seen that one?

Funny that you mention Lancelot and Guinevere.....I actually do not either of those characters. (Are you surprised?) It's probably a bad example because I'm a big proponent of fidelity. To ask your question, yep, he is a bad person in my eyes because who cares if it's one time or 1,000. He took the queen of the King that I'm sure swore loyalty to right? I don't care if he loved her, that's someone else's wife. He should have put that damn penis back in that suit of armor or found a quiet spot in the castle to rub one out.

And yes, Guinevere is a horrible person. A nunnery was too good for her. Since when is cheating on your spouse or respective partner ever ok?

Yeah, I saw Teeth. Not sure how that applies other than she had no real baggage. This isn't a knock on you but I'm pretty sure we are never going to agree here. While I agree with you on fidelity, honesty and all those other qualities I also believe that those ideals are hard to maintain. So, stories where the characters fall from grace are very believable to me and I have always been a fan of the 'doomed' romance. That's not to say I don't like stories with the opposite qualities. See, I guess that's where we differ...besides subconsciuosly, I do not use my beliefs/morals as a limiter of what I can enjoy. For me, entertainment is just that, and I love any movie that can take me out of my own head and thoughts. I try not to project myself into the characters/movies. For example, I watched Lincoln Lawyer last night. I hate lawyers(especially the morally ambiguous type like McConneghy plays) and rape(which also is one of my buzz issues) figures into the story. Those 2 things should have precluded me from enjoying this. But it's such a well done piece of popcorn movie fluff that I got completely lost in it. Mission accomplished, all thoughts and problems went away for the better part of 2 hours. I hope that someday you can divorce yourself enough from what you are watching to enjoy it simply on an entertainment level.

Universal Puts WICKED LOVELY Adaptation into Turnaround

The adaptation of Marr’s book series is being produced by Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Picture Show Productions which is expected to shop the project around the studio circuit. The script was penned by Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands). Marr’s series focuses on a teenage girl who discovers a faery world only to become entangled in a faery love triangle (the best kind, so I’m told) between a mortal boy and a Faery king. In spite of its untimely demise at Universal, if you’d still like to know more about Wicked Lovely, you can check out a synopsis of the novel after the jump.

Here’s a synopsis for Wicked Lovely [from Amazon]:

Rule #3: Don’t stare at invisible faeries.

Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty—especially if they learn of her Sight—and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.

Rule #2: Don’t speak to invisible faeries.

Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.

Rule #1: Don’t ever attract their attention.

But it’s too late. Keenan is the Summer King who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost—regardless of her plans or desires.

Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything.

Faerie intrigue, mortal love, and the clash of ancient rules and modern expectations swirl together in Melissa Marr’s stunning 21st century faery tale.
    So yeah...Boobytrap...stay away from this.

That doesn't even seem like something that YOU'D watch. Ugh. ****ing faeries now? Man, it takes a particular type of fantasy to get me to pay attention, i.e. LOTR.

Yeah, it isn't. I think that's a compliment, so thanks.

Well yeah, there's just no way. I can't read that synopsis and think "I can see JD in the theater for that." Not unless something cool happens like some murderous rampage that involves people getting their faces eaten off and it's funny.
