Not a crazy midnight showing kind of person, so got 10AM tickets for Saturday morning. Hopefully all the loud people are still sleeping then!

All Things:Young Adult Fiction & Movies
Saw THG this morning. Quickest 2h plus movie I've ever seen. Just flew-by. Really enjoyed it having read the book.

Took the kids to the midnight premiere, which I've never done. I wasn't really interested at first, just taking the kids because they LOVED the books. Having seen it now, I have started reading the books. Really enjoyed the movie and the book so far.

I don't think Haymitch was drunk/crazy enough in the beginning. The relationship with Cinna felt forced.
Lots of tears in the theater for Rue's scene.
Liked the movie a lot. As I was watching it I realized there's so much going on in the book, it could've been a 3-4 hour movie. Did feel though, that if you had not read the book it might have been confusing.
I also still don't like shaky camera style.

Gary Ross Decides NOT to Direct "Hunger Games 2: Catching Fire': Lionsgate In 'Shock' - Deadline.com
Good for him for standing up for quality...the studio was locked into a release date and he just doesn't think it's possible to make without sacrificing quality. Bravo. Sure he is turning down considerable cash to stand up for his beliefs. Funny thing is that the studio will most likely be forced to delay the opening anyway now that they have to search for a new director. Can't see anyone wanting to come in and be the goose that killed the golden egg.
