And the best show was FAITH NO MORE. Hands down. Just a Man...I cried. Proud of that.

I'm around half-done, but after I made a Playlist in iTunes for all 2011 music I bought (526 songs), I realized I probably hadn't played half of the songs. Oops. :)
Pick 6 random metal albums from the previous posts, add to that Unexpect's Fables of a Sleepless Empire and perhaps Turisas' Stand Up and Fight (yeah it's simple and cliched, but I tend to drive faster during the totally freakin' awesome crescendo after the third verse of "End of an Empire").
Concerts? Cradle of Filth rocked if only because Justin Beiber was having his movie premier next door, and I got to be graced with the presence of Canada's emperor. Rammstein was cool, too. I know I've been to other shows, but can't think of them right now. Not including Faith No More because that was soooo 2010, man.
Wow, so I did not go to a show in 2011. Ok, apologies.

i've peaked at various best of/top lists and holy smokes it seems like some people listed everything that came out in 2011. i guess it was a good year for music. personally, i'd have rated a few other albums into my list, but given who the artists were, this year's releases from them didn't compare to some of the older things i like by them. death cab is just one of them. i enjoyed codes and keys for the pop album it was, but hopefully since ben isn't happily married anymore, he'll go back to putting out some really powerful music again. (that sounded terribly selfish, but we all know some musicians just do better musically when life isn't all sunshine and rainbows).
i really want to get around to giving these a shot also, since they've made a lot of top lists amongst the people i know and whose musical opinions i respect:
(balance and composure - separation)
this is the only album where i've heard part of it and liked it a lot, but can't really legitimately put it into a list until i hear the whole thing:
i do love her first album, youth novels, so so so much though.
This thread reminds me just how much I stopped listening to new music. I must be getting old, lol!
It's not really that, I mean all of us, maybe, are getting old, and I am far from that whole music isn't as good as it used be state of mind. It's just that following, listening, and discovering new music takes effort and time, and well, sometimes it's easy not to set time aside for such. :/
