I've NEVER defended Smallville. I simply admitted to enjoying it. In fact it's the crown jewel in my "just cus you like something doesn't mean you have to think it's good" argument.
Too often people assume that everything they like is good. So when someone attacks something you like, you feel as if they're assaulting your good taste.
NOTHING could be further from the truth.
I recognized Smallville as trash from the first episode I ever watched (somewhere in season 4 I think) and I never felt insulted or diminished by reading other peoples negative reviews of it.
Smallville was garbage. I loved it. I also love Del Taco.
Arrow Season 2's First Poster - Complete With Deathstroke - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors
OOOf that's sooooooo WB. No wonder I quit watching.
Arrow's first season was awesome dammit!
personally, i actually like the flashbacks to the island where you learned more and more with each episode. i like the drama between oliver, tommy, laurel and tommy's dad. i like oliver's character--how it was pointed out in the "8 reasons why arrow is superior to smallville" link in post #108 of this thread that he's going around parading as this stereotypical CW douche but his real personality is the antithesis to that.
also, i'm a woman and while i don't watch soap operas, this feels like the closest thing to one, but it's more fun, has action in it and piques my interest more. very much in the same way that i enjoyed smallville (except for that season where lana was possessed by a witch).
i don't think this is the best television i watch, but i do find it worthwhile and i always looked forward to wednesdays when it aired.
why'd you lose interest at the manu bennett = deathstroke revelation? i thought you'd expressed interest in it earlier saying the casting would "pay off at some point". and to address that old post, i really do think barrowman is great as merlyn. if it was tommy you were talking about whose one expression you were getting sick of, i'd say something but i wouldn't want to give it away...
