Sorry Doc...but you have seriously crossed the bull**** meridian. Cable shows are far better than network. They don't pander and actually give their viewers credit for being able to handle adult content and they aren't beholden to ad execs by having to fulfill an overlarge number of episodes by watering down their story. If you asked me to give up any network shows I would do it in an instant. Ask me to give up my cable shows and you lose an eye.

Please. Just because you're pandering to a smaller target audience doesn't mean you're NOT pandering. Perhaps some of those shows I listed are better than I'm giving them credit for but at this point Dexter is no more or less than a Melrose Place with nudity, cursing and lots of blood.

Oh sure at it's height it was way more interesting than your average episode of Grey's Anatomy but now? It's devolved into Pulp Drivel.

Breaking Bad? Other than the Deep Cut drug making montages and some of the cinematography how is Jesse "BITCH" Pinkman a compelling character anymore? Evidently they hand out Emmy's for lots of staring off into space with red bleary eyes interrupted by the EXACT SAME SPEECH 80 TIMES PER SHORTENED SEASON.

The Walking Dead? It's just LOST. Only LOST had the decency not to have the main characters only aware of what was in the cameras immediate field of vision. I swear to God a zombie could be in a characters ****ing lap punching them in the kidney on this show and they wouldn't notice it so long as the camera hadn't panned down below their neckline in the last 10 seconds.

Pfff.....

And Boardwalk Empire is stupid and boring.

Words...I have none. I agree with you on Dexter(although the Ray Stevenson guest arc was stellar)...but if you weigh the bulk of cable tv vs Network, there is only one conclusion. In the entire canon of both entities, there is evidence to support any argument(like some fairytale book a lot of folks put their faith in)but best vs best cable BLOWS away network.

My point really is that I think people are savagely over rating some of these high profile cable shows.

And Ray Stevenson wasn't THAT great on Dexter. Come on.... this season was set up to be about Deb discovering Dexter's secret and they have thrown a mountain of other characters and storylines on top of that garbage fire.

They're almost done with the season and they just now introducing ANOTHER PLOT LINE?! At least Yvonne Strahovski is Yvonne StraHOTski.

Disagree(Ray Stevenson brought a tremendous dose of class to a show that needs to end). If you go storytelling vs storytelling Cable wins the day. The boundaries are looser and the quality of talent has shifted. What was the last truly good network show? Scripted...not the pablum of freakshow talent contests. If you remove cable's WIVES OF IRON CHEF crap and just compare SCRIPTED TO SCRIPTED...cable wins.
