Attack The Block (2011) Movie Review | BeyondHollywood.com

“Attack the Block” is exciting and fun and hilarious and action-packed and a whole slew other descriptions. The story is tight, the characters are smart-ass little bastards, the monsters are freaky. All in all it is a goddamn good time and delivers the best of sci-fi as a genre. “Attack the Block” gets a limited release this weekend, and if you’re in the market for an alien invasion film this weekend, and it is playing near you, you’re way better off going to see this than “Cowboys & Aliens”, in my humble opinion.

    Yeah, only at Arclight.

Saw it last night. Really fun movie. I didn't think it was perfect, but one of my favorite movies so far this year.

I thought I was going to need subtitles for that slang the characters used, but it wasn't too bad. I probably missed some of the symbolism of the movie, since I don't know enough about immigrants in poor areas of London.

It's kind of interesting with what's been going on in London lately.

If it weren't for you two, I'd probably hear about the movie, but wouldn't think to go see it. Thanks for making me drive to Hollywood and making me drop 30 bucks for two movie tickets.

Interesting article by a phD student at UPenn for those that have seen ATB already. Some of the stuff he was talking about was going through my mind when I was watching the movie. Be warned that some might find the article to be politically biased.

Also, it has some **DEFINITE SPOLIERS.**

'Attack the Block' Takes Fantasia Audience Award - The Hollywood Reporter

The Fantasia International Film Festival wrapped Sunday, with British writer-director Joe Cornish’s London-set alien invasion movie Attack the Block taking the top audience award for best European or American feature. The Screen Gems sci-fi horror film from Adventures of Tintin co-writer Cornish earlier won the 2011 SXSW Film Festival audience award.
