The Collector scene was a tie in to Guardians of the Galaxy and the eventual Thanos/Infinity Gauntlet movie. It's really a long setup for Marvel. The director complained that it was oddly placed(and it was). It is one of those 'needs explanation' things, but Marvel isn't afraid to shoehorn in a geekster egg. I actually thought the post credits scene was kinda cute(hope you stuck around for that).
Yeah i caught both scenes. I knew the Collector scene was for Guardians and what not, I'm just not familiar with the character at all. Then again I'm not familiar with the Guardians either. I will says this though, I am enjoying all of the continuity and I look forward to the payoff.

If you're curious about The Collector:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collector_%28comics%29

All you really need to know about him is that he's an Eternal (space guy who doesn't die) and he collects stuff. Seriously. The more unique and rare, the better and he isn't afraid to do bad stuff to add to his collection. And he keeps all his stuff in his ship, displaying them like trophies.

I don't know how the movie is going to play out, but when Thanos took an Infinity Gem from him in the comics, he came across as a bit of an idiotic douchebag, especially for a minor character. With a name like Benicio Del Toro playing him, I assume they'll give him some kind of expanded role and, I assume, make him less of an idiot.

    There, now you're all ready.

James Gunn has already used the term 'Space Liberace' in regards to the Collector, so I am not sure how serious they are shooting for.

Here Comes... The Annihilation Omnibus - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Well, if you want to start reading the recent incarnation of Marvel's cosmic comics, this is the place to start. If it wasn't for Annihilation, and the excellent work by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning on it, there wouldn't be a Guardians Of The Galaxy movie on the way.

An Omnibus might be a bit big for a first time, but the trades are pretty pricey at the moment, so...

Marvel Officially Confirms Paul Rudd Is Ant-Man - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Meh. Gotta figure Wright will make it work, but I am not a huge Rudd fan. The star wattage in the future Avengers flick just got even more ridiculous.

Edgar Wright Teases ANT-MAN Story and Using Scott Lang as the Protagonist Instead of Hank Pym | Collider

Is to have a film that basically is about Henry Pym and Scott Lang, so you actually do a prologue where you see Pym as Ant-Man in action in the 60′s, in sort of “Tales to Astonish” mode basically, and then the contemporary, sort of flash-forward, is Scott Lang’s story, and how he comes to acquire the suit, how he crosses paths with Henry Pym, and then, in an interesting sort of Machiavellian way, teams up with him.
