30 Essential Films Missing From The Sight & Sound Top 100 | The Playlist
No Le Samourai = bull****
There are a lot of movies on that list. La Notte's ending makes me choke up. cry:
I've seen Le Samourai only once. I should watch it again. A lot of films have ripped it off.
And yes on that Bunuel film Obscure Object. I don't think enough of the non French or Spanish world appreciate Bunuel, but Hitchcock did!!! Maybe, lol, because they were both dirty old men, haha.
Technically, Le Samourai is on the list. It's tied with a bunch of other movies at #235. It seems there are more than 16 of them, and the programming for their Web page hard cuts the list at 250 titles. I couldn't find anywhere they made mention of tiebreakers, so I assume it should remain in its voted-upon spot of #235, even though the page does not display it.
EDIT: When you click on a movie in the top 250, including Le Samourai, a scrolling box appears in the right column, showing its place in the list. There are a lot of films bunched up at 235, including The Big Lebowski and Belle de Jour!
Which Directors Picked 'Step Brothers,' 'Rocky III' & 'Babe' Among Their All-Time Favorites On The Sight & Sound Poll? | The Playlist
LOL Sion Sono picked Babe.Quote:
Undoubtedly our favorite part of the once-a-decade Sight & Sound poll is poring over the Directors' Top 10 lists. We've already seen a small selection from the likes of Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese and Michael Mann, but the BFI have just put every director's ballot online to essentially stop you from getting any work done for the rest of the week.
