The Thing and (I think) Purple Rain are both on pretty bare bones editions. The Thing looks fairly good but a real nice re-do for such an important movie wouldn't hurt.

This Tuesday. You NEED to own this. Best Buy has a very shiny digibook exclusive that makes it even more of a must. I have seen screen caps of the restored vs original and I can tell you this is going to be a beautiful transfer. Read an article where it was brought up that a lot of critics blame this movie for the 'tentpole-ization' of summer movies. That's horribly unfair. If only popcorn flicks were as well crafted as this movie...
