BTW, I neglected to order Ed Wood for some reason, so thanks for that reminder.
Best Buy hasn't been the best experience for some time now.

well...don't vote for the other guy either. Damned turd sandwich vs douche. Yeah...I tell you, Best Buy hasn't been the same since Circuit City bought the farm. They excelled with the competition. Now 1/3 of the store is Pacific Sales, nobody can help you(sorry that's not my department...what? Helping me????), and they keep NOTHING in stock. Signs all over the place...'hey, we can order that for you online...' Dumbass. Yep I got up off the couch, came into your store...to have you do something I can do myself. Guy at the BB in WeHo actually referred me to Target or Amoeba. Way to go junior. Yup, send your customers elsewhere. I am sure the local Starbucks is hiring.

The Black Sunday Blu-ray is a little disappointing. No apparent attempt to clean up what is, at times, a very dusty print. No attempt to clean up pops in audio. Inconsistent blacks. I might be asking a little much for $20 for a bit of a niche item. I haven't finished watching the Blu-ray yet, but some of the early scenes look cleaner on the DVD. I wonder if possibly some of the artifacts were eaten up by the DVD compression.
Also, there are minor focus issues with some of the shots. I'm not sure whether the problems are with the print or with the photography. I haven't looked particularly closely, but my first impression is that it does not waver, so my first impression is it's not with the print/transfer. It's funny what the enhanced resolution can reveal.
Still, it's the first Mario Bava film I ever saw in a HD format, so I can't complain too much.
About to dive headfirst into Cabin after lunch.

The other day my dad and I went into BB to get my mom's birthday present (season 7 of The Closer.... *shudder*) and the rack space for it was empty. I figured I'd ask someone that worked there if there were any extra copies in back. After 10 ****ING MINUTES of not finding anyone, once being told "I'll get someone to look for you" and also being told "I'll be right back to help you" I just ordered the ****ing thing from Amazon on my phone. Right there in the BB store.

Well, lol, if any of you wanna watch Ed Wood, and don't have a copy, you can watch mine, it's on DVD, but beggars cant be choosers, haha!
No, seriously, I get the BB thing, it's partially their fault, but it's also the fact that we are changing how we acquire our especially using sites through Amazon. :/

Yeah well they are speeding the decline by not even having enough new releases on the first day of sale. Cabin in the Woods sold out by 7:50pm. That's unacceptable. The really nice book/Bluray of Jaws they had exclusively...gone 1/2 way through the first day of sale and you can't even order it online. GONE. Got mine off of eBay for a little bit of a markup. Yes, people shop more online than in stores. But when you are realistically the last true physical copy store you need to at least stock some product. If you don't throw a dress and a coat of makeup on every once in a while who's fault is it if I stray???? Man, they used to try so hard. I knew some of the guys at the Los Feliz store on a first name basis. They simply are phoning it in. Literally. They aught to just go to selling TVs and phones and dispense with the charade.

Well, yeah, but I was thinking how often does one buy comps, phones, TVs, as opposed to buying music and movies. They don't give up the charade because it still gets people into the store on a weekly basis.

But seriously, I do remember years ago, when Blue Underground would acquire and re-release horror films, and I wanted a copy, and could always find one at BB that same day. And Blue Underground isn't uber obscure, like say Something Weird, lol, try finding those DVDs at stores, but they also aren't a big company. But thanks to BB, I could go there the day that BU's Maniac DVD came out, get it, watch a movie about a man who hates women, lol, and everyone was happy.
Not so much these days, huh? :(
It's the next Borders, people just go there to browse and waste time and not buy anything.

The kid told Dick Tracy to suck an egg. That was just wrong. :P
From the Simpsons: Ned Flanders: I'm Dick Tracy! Take that, Pruneface!
[He hits a little girl]
Ned Flanders: Now I'm Pruneface! Take that, Dick Tracy!
[He hits another little boy]
Ned Flanders: Now I'm Prune Tracy! Take that, Dick...
