I'm not sure if the Bruce Lee set from Shout! Factory was released and then pulled, or if it was just delayed, but the version of the set coming out next week uses true HD transfers for the Blu-ray content. Originally, I think these were going to be upscaled, so I passed, but I'm buying next week's release. It probably won't be perfect, but it's the best we're likely to see. Plus, Shout! Factory typically creates good special features.

Yup...I think we ALL have that one classic that we just...haven't...seen. For me it's the Exorcist. Catholic upbringing so it was a great fear in my childhood, avoided it for this long simply because I am afraid I won't be able to watch it with 'new' eyes. Wouldn't want to have a meh experience with something that is held in such high regard, simply because of bad timing on my part. There are a LOT of other 'classics' I haven't seen simply because I don't care to(I don't consider myself a cineaste to the point of watching things I have no interest in just to appreciate the art). Haven't seen Citizen Kane, Gone with the Wind and countless others for those reasons. Maybe if I got all Burgess Merideth/Twilight Zone and had that kind of time I would.

I think it's safe to watch The Exorcist and Citizen Kane. I can't speak to Gone with the Wind, because I've never watched it, either. :-o
Anyway, I'd think that both are unique enough movie experiences that you're safe from your aforementioned reasons. Kane, in particular, holds up well for me, and if you consider that Gregg Toland created new camera lenses specifically to be used on Kane, it's even more worthwhile.

Broke down and got the Pacific Rim LE Gipsy Danger Collector's Case version. It's not as deep as I expected, but I think it looks better than the photo of it. The movie inside is the most important thing, of course.
Also picked up In The Mouth of Madness!!!
And Slap Shot!!!
This is a good Blu-ray day for me.

Gone With the Wind is a guilty pleasure of mine.
JD being The Exorcist watching challenged has been well documented and yet he gave me a hard time for never having read IT.
Actually, I have always wanted to read The Exorcist novel, but alas, it hasn't happened.

I hear the novel is even better than the movie, but I haven't read it yet, either.

How is the Blu Ray of Slapshot? Worth an upgrade?
