Blu-ray Review: The Puppetoon Movie | High-Def Digest

    Final Thoughts

As presented by B2MP, 'The Puppetoon Movie' Blu-ray is far more than a high-definition release of a 1987 film celebrating a somewhat forgotten animator from the '30s and '40s; it is an impressive celebration of the life and career of George Pal, and the many creations he so brilliantly envisioned. This is the kind of disc set that more than makes up for its price tag, and is a must own for any animation fan. The movie itself has undergone a tremendous restoration, but the real reason to own this set is the wonderfully fascinating special features included on both discs. Not only do you get many other Puppetoon shorts and the feature film 'The Great Rupert,' but also the interviews with fellow animators, filmmakers, and writers are simply wonderful additions that will enlighten anyone who has ever had an interest in George Pal or the world of stop-motion animation. This one is highly recommended.

Scream Factrory Details Darkman, Night of the Demons, and Witchboard

Just added Darkman to my DVR again. Haven't seen it since the VHS days. If it holds up as well as I remember, I'll be picking the Blu-ray up for sure.

Blu-ray Review: The Golden Voyage of Sinbad | High-Def Digest

    Final Thoughts

'The Golden Voyage of Sinbad' is the kind of movie that can be enjoyed for its zesty portrayal of heroism and adventure, as much as it is for the tremendous special effects that will likely be the film's major draw. This Blu-ray features a wonderful high-definition transfer and even better sound that truly highlights the epic score from Miklos Rozsa. While the supplements are interesting in their own right, it would have been nice if there were something highlighting the film itself. At any rate, this would make a great pick for Harryhausen fans and adventure fanatics alike. Recommended.

Blu-ray Review: Big Ass Spider! | High-Def Digest

    Final Thoughts

'Big Ass Spider' is a great time. It's better than you're anticipating in every way, and loads better than the SyFy original films that tend to pack our DVRs and shelves today. It's got everything you want in a movie called 'Big Ass Spider'. The video and audio are both great, with a decent commentary and a couple other short extras. You'll have a lot of fun with this schlock. Highly recommended.
Have heard nothing but praise for this one...check it out.

Batman TV show is finally set for home video release

You would think this would have been a no-brainer for all involved years ago when everyone was putting out box sets of every TV show, but there's been a brutal legal battle going on between Warner and Fox over who had the specific rights to put the show out. Character rights, licensing rights regarding the Batmobile, actor likeness rights… everything complicated the process, and as a result, the show has been largely out of circulation even as the DVD sales market peaked and started to ebb.

This could well be one of the last holy grail titles for TV fans, and unlike something like "Land Of The Lost" which you could hear shatter people's childhood fandom as soon as they laid eyes on it again as an adult, "Batman" remains an amazing slice of pop culture, witty and silly and enjoyable on every level. My kids have been raised watching the feature film that Fox put out on Blu-ray, and they adore it, but they've never seen an episode of the show. I believe that there is nothing that looks better on Blu-ray than '60s color, and when you look at "The Prisoner" or the original series of "Star Trek," those shows are almost surreal, they're so beautiful. Now there's going to be a gorgeous box of the complete series?

I cannot wait to throw my money at Warner Bros as soon as this is released. As far as I'm concerned, this is THE story in home video this year. When it does hit, I plan to introduce Film Nerd 2.0 to the glories of the series, and I hope you guys will play along at home.

Now the question I have is will they get to use all of the various commentary tracks that have been recorded over the last few years with various cast and crew members while they were still trying to work out these rights. Boy, I hope so.

There is no date yet beyond 2014. That's good enough for now.

MeTv shows said Batman show & the Wonder Woman show too.

A few weeks ago, haha, they showed the ep in which Batman & the Joker settle their differences with a surfing contest.

The Joker got bonus points for being the most colorful, but other than that, he lost. :(

At that point, the Batman show had 'Surfed The Joker'.
