2) I never said the Bryne character was insanely racist. Your assumption that it's a binary choice is disturbing, when I'd have thought it's obvious that there's a wide swath of shades-of-gray in between unconditional love vs. unconditional hate. The truth is, I would (statistically) expect the Bryne character (based on my experiences living in other parts of the country) to be indifferent to non-whites, where that indifference comes from passive acceptance of her heritage/environment rather than active contemplation & rejection of those not like her.
