which also led me to think about Growing Pains, Who's the Boss, and Silver Spoons

Is it lame that I am still laughing about that Full House ep that Lunchie brought up? Lol! In that episode, DJ Tanner says that she wants to look like the girls on the cover of the magazine, and her dad, is like, but if you were on the cover, Fred Savage would be on the back of the page. Hahaha!
Anyways, I love Saved by the Bell. It thought me more about being a teenager than being a teenager did. mhihi:
And I was thinking, why don't anthology shows do well these days? I am a big fan of stuff like the Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, One Step Beyond (like that Madness song!), but attempts at those types of shows usually fail these days. The last time that I remember something like that succeeding was with The Tales of the Crypt which was one of my favorite shows.
And I was a latch key kid too, but I wouldn't go straight home. I would wander the streets, lol, or hang out in the arcade. evil:
With all the comic book adaptations someone(Fx are you listening) needs to make a House of Secrets(the original, with Kane & Abel) or Creepy/Eerie anthology show. A lot the problem is that those kind of short stories require good writing, which is not exactly a hallmark of tv these days. Look at the pedigree of the short stories they chose on the original Twilight Zone, most of those were written by heavy hitters sci-fi wise. That kind of thing costs. There was a show that ran for a season called 'The Darkroom' with a very cranky/funny James Coburn narrating. If you haven't seen those they are definitely worth seeking out.
ya ya! i used to watch those ALL the time. haha... oh boy, i watched so much tv. it's a wonder my brain didn't rot.
nowadays, they say you shouldn't let your kid watch so much because it contributes to obesity and ADHD but i'm neither of those!
no way dude. i don't have a great memory for tv episodes, movie scenes and quotes, but i TOTALLY remember that episode, too. it's partially because i've always been self-conscious about my body and staying thin so it kind of hit home (although i think it's bananas to compare yourself to the girls in the magazines even before airbrushing and photoshopping was de rigueur).
occasionally, i wouldn't go straight home like my mom wanted me to, but eventually, i couldn't go anywhere because my little brother was a goodie two shoes and would rat me out if i disobeyed my parents' wishes. no amount of bribing worked. it's really amazing how i was born with a wild horse's soul and he was the complete opposite, most tame, obedient kid ever... how does that happen?!?! haha.
Small Wonder and Out of This World.
Oh, and Mr. Belvedere.
Did anyone mention SOAP yet? That was one hilarious show.
*sings* what we do babeh without us,
sha la la la.....
That episode where Evie gets a birthday wish, and wishers for her mom to be able to talk to her dad too? Moving stuff.
Saved by the Bell - that episode when Kelly "cheated" (technically) with Jeff at the Max.....and ended with one final zach and kelly dance, while I beileve Slater and Jesse sang "how am i supposed to live without you" in the background? Moving stuff.
As I type this, I'm wearing my bad religion "i'm a latch key kid" shirt. go figure.
This is a fantastic thread.
Oooh, I remember Out of this World! It was that show with a girl that was part alien. ;)
Hahaha! Remember when Jeff then cheated on Kelly with some girl at a club called the basement or something? And I am like what are we supposed to feel bad? That's called karma and that's what she gets for cheating on poor Zachary Morris.
And then there were those series of episodes where they work at a beach and that woman who was the wife of The King of Queens is in it and she doesn't like Zach's jokes, so she's like, I am from the East Coast so I don't get this California humor. Are you trying to be gnarly? mhihi:
Oh, and then that episode when Zach and AC Slater fight and Mr. Belding who's bearing a whig that makes him look like Davy Crockett, lol, has to stop it.
Anyone ever watch Stingray with Nick Mancuso? Only lasted 2 seasons buy was a pretty cool show. Like a Night Rider for grownups.
