AICN COMICS/HORROR EXCLUSIVE: See the exclusive one-sheet and world premiere trailer for the dark superhero flick VS premiering at Toronto After Dark Film Festival here!
Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

VS, a dark superhero film premiering at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival on October 20-27th at the Toronto Underground Cinema, 186 Spadina, Toronto, Canada. Looks a bit like KICK-ASS, but it’s got James Remar (WARRIORS, DEXTER’s dad) and Lucas Till who played Havok in X-MEN FIRST CLASS.

Shame about Remar. You would have thought that after 48 Hours, where he almost stole the flick from Eddie/Nick Nolte, he would have been huge. As it is he's got a solid career as a journeyman...but man, I would have thought he coulda been something.

Beware the Batman Animated Series Coming in 2013 | Superhero Hype

"According to Register, the CGI animated series will spotlight a classic-looking Batman teaming up with a gun-toting Alfred Pennyworth and a female ninja sidekick," says the site. "Beware the Batman is executive-produced by Glen Murakami, and will explore the mythology’s more obscure villains, such as Professor Pyg, but also won't shy away from featuring some of the more well-known Batman foes. In the series, Batman will team up with a younger female sidekick named Katana. During the keynote, Register added that Katana will fill the sidekick role, but won't be a replacement for Robin."
    Hrm.

I'm not sure Guardians Of The Galaxy is the best way to kick off the sci-fi arm of Marvel movies, but... ok.

Creative Team Drops Superman - Comics News at IGN

According to Newsarama, writer George Perez is leaving his writing duties behind as he departs Superman with issue #7. Along with him exits artist Jesus Merino, who was providing finishes to Perez's breakdowns. Taking their place will be writer Keith Giffen and artist Dan Jurgens. The report cited no source and is unconfirmed by DC Comics at this time, but we'll update the story as we learn more.
    More problems?

I'm not sure that Guardians is the best way to kick off a direct-to-dvd line. Surprising that Dr Strange is not included nor Power Man, both have been rumored for a while. It's quite possible that Marvel thinks they may have some more potential tentpoles and are holding them out for future development. I would be real interested in a true Inhumans flick. They were always so 'space-gypsy' groovy. It's too bad, but all that weirdness will most likely get trimmed. They have to keep the look of those characters though. They are inhuman for christ's sake...no more ULTIMATES crap.

Is that on the Dr Naysay presents Adgy scale?

I dunno, but the first two minis by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch are recommended as highly as possible.
