Tricky. I can see them introducing him on the tv show and then, depending on the response, either re-casting or going with whoever they have as a lower tier release. The old spice guy, Michael Jai White would probably still be in the running, Idris Elba might be above things though...but if they promise him a feature, you never know.

Sorry, but how in the XST can The Boys be #5. Next to Preacher, his definitive work i.m.o. I have read the first Wormwood...maybe I have to retry, but I wasn't a huge fan.

    I think it's a pretty good list, but I haven't read Wormwood.

Wormwood is fun, I thought, but nothing super amazing.

I would actually put his Punisher MAX stuff as my #1, but I'm biased.

    Over The Preacher? :O

His work on The Preacher and Hellblazer is my favorite, but I am a fan of blasphemy. :D

Why do you think I love Depeche Mode's "Blasphemous Rumours."

And that Constantine movie was blasphemy of another sort. The type that gets you into the inner circle of Dante's Inferno.

Oh you ****ing BLASPHEMER!!!!!!!!!! Preacher is the series by which ALL will be judged. Not a duff note in the whole thing. Simply the greatest comic series worthy of mention alongside Dark Knight/Watchmen. I have not read Punisher:Max...don't worry, I will, but really better than Preacher???? There is NO SUCH THING. NO SUCH THING.

    You tell him, JD!

The Preacher is the series that got me back into comics. I grew up reading comics, but by high school lost interest. I then heard about this series called The Preacher that was getting a lot of attention, read about it in Wizard, and starting reading it and was hooked on comics again. I've said it a million times, the days when The Preacher, The Invisibles, and Transmetropolitan were all comic out at the same time was a GOLDEN AGE!

Hahaha! Remember that Klan storyline in The Preacher, lol. Two Klansmen are talking about their boss and saying that they hate black people, but they also like to talk about other things, unlike their boss. And as soon as the boss comes along, he says hi, and starts on an ant-black person tirade, lol.

Yes, there was so much there. It was so deep. Besides the complete head**** rape/mutilation/god hating and just general notsafeforchildren there was tremendous social commentary shoved in the most vile/obscene art. It was the smartest most offensive comic written. It is amazing that DC/Vertigo allowed it to play out and a testament to just how great that line was in it's heyday. Hell, they had the english lit of Sandman going on on the other side of things to balance things out. That was probably the highpoint of comics.

Then you need to get a copy of Wormwood ASAP, Orph. It's blasphemy on a whole 'nother level.

Yeah, let's never talk about that **** again.

I got nothing but love, respect and admiration for Preacher. You know this. And as far as context/importance to comics as a whole, it's by far the best thing Ennis has done. But for me, personally, it's #3 on my Ennis list. Behind Punisher MAX and Hitman. Yep, Hitman.
