Marvel – “We’re Going To Kill A Character Every Quarter” Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

From the ComicsPro retailer summit, David Gabriel, VP Sales at Marvel Comics has announced that as a result of the Fantastic Four sales and media coverage, Marvel are going to kill a main character every quarter.

He also added “this is not a joke”.
Ugh. ****ing typical, Marvel. Find some success in something and then over-expose the **** out of it until no one cares anymore. LAME.

That's absurd enough to be an Onion news report...

JD, the new Highland Laddie is out today.
Finally tracked down a copy of this. What had been kinda cute, albeit unnecessary, so far really dropped a bomb in the last issue. Beyond make Wee Hughie even more loveable, the reveal at the end could signal the end of things and a serious rift amongst Hughie & Butcher. I have been saying that the last few Boys have been lacking...and now I realize, without Hughie there is no soul. Looking very forward to him coming back, and the last 2 years of this, which will sadly be over faster than it sounds, should be a hell of a ride. Ennis has perfected a formula that he really hit strides with in HITMAN, and I think that, at the end, this series is going to stand proudly alongside PREACHER as his best work.

And I got my copy of Simon Pegg's bio NERD DO WELL...so it's a great day.

Rumor: Will DJ Caruso Direct ‘Preacher’?

In September producer Moretz told Total Film Magazine that “Another unnamed director has apparently signed on.” We haven’t had any leads on this until today. One of my well placed Hollywood spys informs me that Disturbia/Eagle Eye helmer DJ Caruso is in talks to direct a big screen adaptation of Preacher. This is said to be all dependent on the box office of his latest film, I Am Number Four. I have not been able to double source this rumor, but I thought I’d throw it out there
[Update: Kevin Smith tweeted the following in response to the above: PRESS CORRECTION: @slashfilm - Preacher was never "set up" at View Askew with a $25mil budget. At one point, Garth & Steve grabbed a beer & burger with me & @SMosier at the Tribeca Grill, where we said "Use our names for whatever our names are worth." Our names were worth bupkis. @SMosier & I pitched it to BobWeinstein, who said "I don't get it. This is a comic book? The Crow I get. This? No." And that was the extent of our involvement with Preacher: a beer & burger & a no from Bob. It was Rachel Talalay's flick; me & @SMosier were just fans of the book & the creative team of Garth & Steve. James Marsden was never involved during this period (which wasn't even a period, so much as a three day stretch). So strange to watch a fiction become fact. Happy to have Twitter as a means to correct misinformation.]

    All-Star Superman Blu-ray

All-Star Superman may just be the best DCU animated original movie to date. At the very least, it's the best Superman feature Timm and his team have put together. It's not only a fantastically faithful adaptation of Morrison and Quitely's 12-issue comic run, it's a riveting reinvention of Superman and his mythos, a fun but poignant look at a decidedly human superhuman, and a gripping, episodic epic all around. I doubt everyone will enjoy it as much as I did, but fans of Morrison and Quitely's comic, Superman aficionados and filmfans without any Super-baggage will be enamored. Warner's Blu-ray release makes purchasing the flick that much easier. While its video encode isn't without the usual flaws, it offers a fairly impressive image (that handily bests its DVD cousin), an excellent DTS-HD Master Audio surround track and a strong selection of top-drawer special features. DCU animation junkies shouldn't hesitate, casual superhero fans should give it serious consideration and even Superman's most ardent critics should add it to their rental queue. All-Star Superman delivers.
Yeah, I need to get this.

Keep looking.
