Evan Peters to Play Quicksilver in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST | Collider
Haha...take that Avengers 2.
Good for him. He's a good actor and he seems like he can handle Quicksilver's attitude.
Be interesting to see what this does for Whedon's plans...
DC To Give Away All Star Superman #1 In Print And Digital On Superman Day For Man Of Steel - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors
If you haven't read this book yet, I cannot recommend it highly enough. The best Superman comic series I've ever read, completely changed my outlook on the character.DC are labelling Wednesday June 14th as Superman Day, alongside the release of the Man Of Steel movie in the US on the Friday.
Bleeding Cool have previously noted how scenes from All Star Superman by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely turn up in the movie, and it seems DC noticed too, as they are giving away the first issue, in print and digitally, on that day, in a “Special Edition”. Retailers will receive copies based on their orders for Action Comics #20 and can then order extra copies if they wish at an incremental cost.
John C. Reilly Offered Role in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY | Collider
James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be one of the strangest films of 2014; that’s pretty much a guarantee when two of your lead characters are a gun-toting raccoon and a talking tree. Word has it that funnyman John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) has been offered a role in the Marvel film. While my first thought was that of a voice role for one of the above-mentioned characters (who currently are voiceless), Reilly is being offered a slightly different sort of role. Comic book fans may be familiar with the name Rhomman Dey, but just how Gunn plans to use that character appears to be a tad unconventional. A new report also has Marvel showing interest in Hugh Laurie (House M.D.), Alan Rickman (Harry Potter series) and Ken Watanabe (Inception) for an additional role. Hit the jump for more.
HitFix reports that Marvel has extended an offer to Reilly to play Rhomman Dey in Guardians of the Galaxy. In the comics, Dey was the super-powered leader of the Nova Corps on the planet Xandar when the planet was destroyed by the space pirate Zorr. Seeking revenge against Zorr but mortally wounded in another encounter with the pirate, Dey arrived in Earth’s orbit and granted his powers to the human, Richard Rider. Gifted with these new powers and tasked with the dying Dey’s wish to eliminate Zorr, Rider takes on the mantle of Nova. Nova, the intergalactic peacekeeper, has long been aligned with the Guardians … but that might not be exactly the arc that Reilly’s character takes.
The report has Dey as more of a human liaison for the Guardians, cast in the mold of Clark Gregg’s Agent Phil Coulson for The Avengers. Dey would keep the Guardians in line and report to S.H.I.E.L.D. on their activities. There’s no word yet on how closely Guardian‘s Dey will follow the Dey of the comics, but it’s expected that he’ll be the human face of the Guardians franchise. He’ll also have a peer agent to help him out along the way; Marvel is reportedly interested in Laurie, Rickman or Watanabe for that role.
A Film Based On A Comic Book Just Won The Palme D'Or At Cannes - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors
The comic book original here is Julie Maroh‘s Le Bleu est Une Couleur Chaude, published in 2010 and set to hit America later this year as Blue Angel, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see that title step back in line with the prize winning film now. It’s a romance, between Clementine and Emma, or in Abdellatif Kechiche‘s film, Adele and Emma, who are played by Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux.
Some problems with Thor: The Dark World as composer departs and rumors fly
his week it was confirmed that esteemed composer Carter Burwell—best known for working on virtually every Coen Brothers movie—has left the production. “Creative differences,” they said. Although he’s worked on plenty of brainy fare, Burwell also composed the music for several Twilight films, so he’s not a franchise killer.
While Deadline has confirmed Burwell’s departure, it was first raised by Comic Book Movie, which sourced the rumor to a film score message board poster. Interestingly, the message board poster also wrote that director Taylor has been removed from the film because Marvel wasn’t happy with him.
Just a rumor—one which another anonymous commenter on Deadline also repeated. Which proves exactly nothing—it could be the same person or just an anti-Taylor faction. However, the Burwell thing did check out so, wait and see.
Yeah, the rumors abound that Taylor has been asked to 'take a long vacation' when the Thor movie comes out...presumably because they don't want him on the publicity circuit. Lots of 'troubled production' whispers floating about all unfounded.
