We dig in to discuss what we can expect based on the Fantastic Four casting

Josh Trank strikes me as a guy who really, really, really wants to get "Fantastic Four" right. When he first came onboard the film, back when Jeremy Slater was the sole screenwriter on it, everything I heard gave the impression that this was something that they took very seriously. While Fox has done the typical studio round-robin on screenwriters, Trank has been the constant here, and he remains fiercely protective of whatever it is they're cooking up. I'm certainly willing to give him the benefit of the doubt based on "Chronicle," and as I said yesterday when we posted our first piece about the casting… I have my fingers crossed. I want this to work, and I'm going to be Captain Optimism for as long as I can be.
This is the only reason I am not dismissing this. You know...I look at Kate MAra and all I can see is the chick from the Inhumans...am I right Adgy?

Haha...someone made a logo out of the best line in the GotG trailer. Sweet.

Another tricky property...moreso than Thor, but similar. This one is starting to heat up production wise. If MArvel can make hits out of this, GotG and Ant-Man, they will be unstoppable and you can expect things to really open up.

James Gunn a quirky low budge director(yet a writer on Scooby Doo flicks and I think, the Snyder DOTD remake) taking a underexposed property with a talking raccoon and a tree, etc. That underdog nature really seems to have translated to the movie itself. I think it's obvious, but I am really rooting for this one. Success for this encourages movie makers to look at EVERYHING as a possible franchise. Plus, as I have said before, this movie appears to embrace it's genesis in COMIC BOOKS. You want to make dramedies like Iron Man 3...fine. But I wants my funny book movies. I fully expect to watch this one repeatedly with a full on smile throughout a la Pacific Rim.
Pretty much what JD said. The recent iteration that this movie is basing itself on had a smaller, dedicated following. It only lasted around 25 issues as a series, though there were a bunch of crossover and event stories the team showed up in, too. I thought it was ****in' great. The current series, which came out when the movie was announced, is also pretty enjoyable. I do recommend them both.

Marvel's Supposed Shortlist Of Doctor Strange Directors Shines Some Light On A Recent Casting Rumour - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the four possibles who have or will soon meet Marvel brass are:

Mark Andrews – co-director of Brave, second unit director on John Carter
Jonathan Levine – director of 50/50, Warm Bodies and All The Boys Love Mandy Lane
Dean Israelite – director of the recently postponed time travel found footage movie, Welcome To Yesterday
Nikolaj Arcel – director of A Royal Affair, nominated last year for best foreign film

Seeing Arcel’s name on the list made the most impact here because it really lit up a different story that I’ve been hearing. According to one pretty solid Marvel-adjacent source, Arcel’s Royal Affair star Mads Mikkelsen apparently is, or has been, somewhere in the mix for the film’s early casting discussions.
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooh. Not who I picture at all, but how can you not like that idea?

It has been years since I read any of the books of The Guardians. Best I can remember history wise (not story wise) with the characters in the current line up is the Peter Quill (Starlord) was featured in the 1st "Trade Paperback" ever to come from Marvel and it seemed to be a "test run" right before the released "The Death of Captain Marvel" as their 1st Graphic Novel. (I still have both in my collection)
Rocket Raccoon was the book that gave Mike Mignola his 1st art run with Marvel.
