It would be very cool if Neko Case were backed by The National - like she did with Calexico. I was fortunate enough to see her and Calexico at SLO Brew a couple of years back. VERY small venue and quite the dynamite show. She's a jewel.

I drove up to San Francisco just to see that show! Neko's awesome -I downed a shot of Wild Turkey with her and her manager Amy at the Derby in Los Feliz back when she was still doing mostly country covers with Jon Rauhouse and Tom Ray as her band. I used to swoon for that chick!

Unfortunately I think the indy praise got to her a bit. Her first few records were tight and thrilling, but the last one was way, way too ambitious and it seems like she has down played her amazing voice in favor of over-written and pretentious songs. She is still great live, but I would love to see her strip it down a bit and drop the dozens of homeless pianos in her barn choruses
