Glad to hear it! Hope all is well, man!
well I was all set to head to the troubadour to see Dragonforce tonight, but just got word it is cancelled due to their new singer being sick.
that sure does suck
at least you found out before you showed up. a friend and i drove all the way to hollywood from SD (him) and irvine (me) to see the bosstones for free (i think he or i won tickets from kroq) and when we showed up, it had been canceled because the whisky-a-go-go (the venue) had a sewage back up. the street in front of it was all wet and they were swishing the run off towards a drain. we had sushi across the street and then went home. womp womp. we had to come back later (i think the week or two after) and finally saw them. this was back in like 1999 or so, before instant notifications via the internets.
at least there's a kings game on tonight!![]()
Yeah, Portishead was ****ing fantastic. My ONLY complaint was the venue and the fact that I am clearly getting too old to have to stand in one spot for 4 hours.
Loved the show, though, and so glad I can finally mark this band off my list of bands I need to see before I die.
My only complaint about the venue was the ******* security staff at the entry, and ridiculously long drink lines. And they better make sure it doesn't reek of BBQ as much when Moz plays there or he's going to bolt. Otherwise, I thought the sound was good, and the venue setup fitting for the performer. Standing was a pain initially, but once Portishead hit the stage, I didn't feel my body anymore. And hey, you coulda just gone upstairs and leaned on the railing, would have saved you that lower back or whatever discomfort![]()
Oh man, you mention security... I WANTED to go upstairs but was told by one security person it was VIP only. Another person I asked said I needed a wristband and told me he didn't know where I could get one. So... yeah, I tried. BoobyTrap is pretty short, so that was my goal from the start, but the disorganized, uninformed people working there put paid to that. I only found out after the show that people should have been able to go up there as they pleased.
