For a first show in 7 years, they were excellent! A little rough around the edges. There were quite a few start/stops/starts. Crowd was packed and energy was good but not through the roof. Shirley Manson was in great spirits. Her hair was up in a knot and I like it down (what can I say- love those redheads!). Her vocals were a bit low in the mix for my liking. Eric Avery on bass was a great addition! And the band's performance awesome. The overall sound was too low for my tastes- it could have easily have been much, much louder show. We got three new songs. The one they closed with, Battle In Me, was easily my favorite song of the night, even though it was my first time hearing it! Set List as follows--
Supervixen
Temptation Waits
Shut Your Mouth
Metal Heart
Queer
Stupid Girl
Why Do You Love Me?
#1 Crush
Trick
Vow
Blood For Poppies (new)
Man On A Wire (new)
Milk
I Think I'm Paranoid
Bad Boyfriend
Only Happy When It Rains
Push it
Special
The World Is Not Enough
Battle In Me (new)
Garbage is one of those bands where I forgot just how many hits and recognizable songs they had in their back catalog until I was there watching them. Songs like Stupid Girl and Queer are just farking great tunes. Battle In Me is right up there too and live and it's a real stunner. I think I'd go see to them again just to hear that one! Here are the 3 new tunes they performed:
Blood For Poppies
Man On a Wire
Battle In Me
The Bootleg is an interesting club. My first time there. High ceilings. Good beer selection. The spot Garbage performed in is recently built- towards the back of the club and probably can get about 500 folks in it. Were it not for the somewhat muted sound of the place I'd give it pretty high marks. It's in a shiatty area of town too but still, not a bad space at all.
