Very romantic for V-day, wonder if i can convince my gf to go to this...
baseck is awesome
hahaha. well, sounds like you're golden then. i think my husband went to dinner with the girl (probably not a NICE one since i'm the only one he's ever spoiled, booyah) and he got her a bear as a gift... (which he also got for me for our first valentine's day because he thinks flowers and chocolates are cliché, no booyah :-/ ...) but they just mutually grew apart that night.
our first show(s) wasn't avant garde or weird, but he did spend it not even looking at me, barely talking to me and then when we hung out in the parking lot in the cold november night, he didn't offer his jacket to me. he just looked at everyone around us, he's a people watcher, but f*** if i knew it at the time, i just thought he was looking at other girls. BUT WHY DID I WANT TO KEEP DATING HIM?! OMG. i'm THAT GIRL. i had coffee with another guy during the early days of our relationship and he offered me his jacket, complimented me tons and looked me in the eye and i never hung out with him again. at least it turned out great for me anyway though, eh? there's a lesson for you guys. ps. i'm drunk.
i had all this nostalgia from you guys' posts and then i got a special album for ticket stubs which i just put together with every show i've ever been to that i had hard copy stubs for (lots of ones for which i was on a guest list or on will call, but don't have tickets for :( ). sorry for the rant!
that's very sweet of you, how'd it go?
yup, i knew right away she's a keeper because she doesn't mind going to those "highly irritating" shows or movie, as gescom put it. but i do also like some of her type of music, so it's not all doom and gloom.
well, we DID start off with some common footing... our love for Indie music and the Madchester era specifically is what got us talking to begin with. one of our first official dates was Interpol and the end of the world type rainstorm at the Olympic.
but then, BOY do our musical roads diverge. i've taken her to quite a few shows from my end of things... some she liked and some... not so much, like the Legendary Pink Dots. she was iffy on the whole Skinny Puppy experience, but she "got" it.
she quite enjoyed Autechre though, which surprised me because i wouldn't have thought she would have enjoyed something like that least.
